So where did they all go? Now that most everyone in the developed world has a digitial camera or other recording device, they left?

Maybe they got bored & fucked off...

You have to admit that there is some interesting 'evidence' (I think evidnece may be to strong a word) out there that suggests alien visitation at some point in our ancestry...

Looks like someone never heard of the "Wheels of Heaven", then again, most people haven't.

I'm blanking on most of it, basically, their are several instances in the bible where a prophet encounters various holy wheels, and I believe a class of Angel is described as being a Wheel...I don't have time to do the research at this time. gimme a little time.

Actually, it does seem somewhat interesting. But just because ETs came to earth and were worshipped as gods, that doesn't mean that these ETs created all life on earth.

The Bible also says that God created the world in six days. Who gives a shit what the Bible says? It is not a document that accurately records history.

And there is no actual, physical evidence to suggest that we have been visited by extraterrestrials at any point, just a lot of assholes who want to believe this is so, and who also disparage the accomplishments of the ancients when they equate these accomplishments with alien visitation.

I like how the "UFOs" portrayed in these paintings all just happen to fit the 20th-century visualization of UFOs. People will go to extraordinary lengths when they want to believe something...

Also, there have been probably MILLIONS of pieces of art made throughout history, and I doubt that even a tiny percentage of them contain images of UFOs and/or extraterrestrials as we have imagined them to be.

Actually, I've heard people theorize that the "Pillar of Cloud" and "Pillar of Fire" that supposedly guided the Israelites out of Egypt may have been a UFO, and of a Mideval account, with illustrations, of a group of Cylindrical ships, complete with either spherical or saucer-shaped "fighters", engaging each other over a town.

Well, let's see. What do you think is more likely, that the Israelites witnessed an event never before observed by anyone else in history and then chose to record its occurence in only one text, or that the Israelites just made it up like so many other stories from the Bible? There are other alternatives, also; what if these phenomena were naturally generated? Why do people suppose that, despite infinite layers of improbability and a complete lack of any sort of evidence that is worth anything, such mythological events can be linked to extraterrestrials?

We don't know, nor do we have any reason to believe, that extraterrestrials have at any point visited this planet; however, we do know that there are a lot of liars, bullshitters, and storytellers out there who love to make up shit, and we have no reason to believe that this was any different during Biblical times.

[sobbing] But, but, it's true!
They arrived in a big pyramid-shaped like thingy, and then enslaved like the human race, pretending to be gods, and then like, the humans revolted like, and they went away, like leaving a gate to the stars behind! Like it's true![/sobbing]

As I recall, the section of the bible that has the UFO/Wheel is Revelations.

This is the same section of the bible that (I've been told) bears striking resemblence to an LSD trip.

Draw your own conclusions.

Also, I've seen a number of people pointing out that the "wheel" strongly resembles an atmosphereic phenomenon where the sun has some fun optical stuff happen to it under unusual conditions.

There's something about Elijah being whisked away by a UFO, also (the sad thing about this stuff is, the UFO nutcases always fail to realize that these are made up stories).

I find a flaming chariot more believable than a UFO, honestly. I mean, even if aliens did want to kidnap some prophet-style guy, why make such a big deal instead of just taking him in the middle of the night? :P

Did it say it was a big deal? Or was it just that they didn't care about subtlety?

This is a renaissance illustration of a UFO sighting in Rome detailed in a book "Prodigiorum liber" by Roman historian Julio Obsequens.

I read some bullshit about ancient astronauts called 'Gods of the New Millenium'. I read it some 6 years ago- and was taken in completely. I know better now. It's absolute bullshit- putting a spin on 'evidence' to fit your preconcieved bullshit theories.

Let me guess - it was written by a certain Erich Von Däniken??

Hm.... Atlantis, eh?? I recently read a book on the subject of Atlantis, and it becomes more compelling to think of it - although one part of me dismisses Atlantis as a fable, I secretly want to believe that long ago, Atlantis rose above all other nations in this world....
