Have been busy rearming my ships. First up, DESTROYER:

Along with my revised Railgun I've also created a light point defense turret.

The big gun turrets seem a tad big. I would suggest scaling them down 15%

Hmmm, now you mention it they do look a little large in comparison to the width of the ship. I'd also scale down the point defence turrets a fair bit, they appear to be significantly larger than the fighters and missiles they'd be used to shoot down. Although you clearly want to convey the fact that this is a warship, you dont want the guns to dominate the model completely. In the same vein I'd make the forward missile launch tubes a similar diameter to the ones you have on the top side. They're a believable size, where the ones on the front seem massive in comparison.

I'm really liking the additional detail you're building in now, the models are improving all the time. The more genuine detail you can build in to a model the better it will be received, and the more real it will look. I realise you dont want to go mental with these, but small details can make all the difference. You dont have to put greebles all over the big flat areas, but one or two small hatches or panels wouldn't go amiss, and I'd love to see some manouvering thrusters. They dont have to be large, just small ports like the use on Star Trek would add another layer of belief to the model.

I did get your latest model, I'll get to work on converting it now. I'd also like to ask your permission to upload the conversions to my website, www.kennyscrap.com so that the Lightwave community can use them for pictures and animations as well. You'll get full credit of course, and you might eventually find your designs turning up in pictures, animations and screensavers.

OK, did a quick conversion and played around with my Cel Shader settings again. I think I got it a bit better this time, I've managed to get the lines on as well. Here you go, Titanus and friends...

I cheated and did a bit of post-processing in Photoshop as well to add some film grain and blur to try and complete the 80's kids show look. Let me know what you think.

I think it looks very, very 80's.

But seriously, the designs look nice, the colors compliment each other pretty damn well without standing out or being garish. Very nice work, I've got to say, both on the models and the way they came out in the end.

Go ahead and post them up. I like the cell shading, it definitely looks better than the first attempt. Could you do a standard render of it for me, like you did of the cruiser?

Here you go...

The model was way too large to work with on my PC here in the office, it had around half a million polygons in it before I could convert it. I stuck with it and got it done, brought down to about 110,000 polygons, but it's still too large for me to load into the modeler and fix all the errors. Normally I'd repair all the surfaces and assign textures and so forth, but with this I just added the colours and that was about it. I'll try and do a little more with it when I get home to my main PC which is built to handle this sort of thing.

Kuroji, thanks for noticing. It's entirely meant to invoke memories of the late 70's and early 80's anime shows which we got from Japan. I must be doing something right if you could see that too.

It certainly does. Almost looks like a screencap from Macross or something along those lines. You did a good job on the effect.

That latest design looks sweet too. Reminds me of a Hiigaran battlecruiser, though I admit curiosity at the wings... but the colors being subtle, understated. Looks a lot nicer that way.

Yeah, it looks a lot better with the ink. Maybe you can up the inks AA somewhere and it´ll be perfect.
