Blizzard to players: Fuck off, we're busy

We are aware of the issue that is currently affecting the Children’s Week quest line in Dalaran which does not allow players who have completed the quest line last year to take part in it again this year. We do not currently have a fix planned to address this issue at this point in time.

I'll summarize; Blizzard has special events, holidays if you like, and this week is one of them. Last year they added a new aspect to 'children's week' which allowed a choice of pets. Everyone got one or the other, and this year when things rolled around the expectation was we would be able to do the quests and get the other one.

Except it's bugged. Blizzard found this out Sunday, spent two days saying 'Wait until we do server maintenance on Tuesday', and then today announced that the bug exists and they are specifically NOT going to fix it until next year. The worst part is, to complete the in-game achievement, you need to have 1 of 3 orphans with you. Alot of players completed the quests with 2 of the orphans over the weekend, and expected they would finish with the northrend orphan. Unfortunately, thanks to Blizzard's decision, they have to wait a year to complete it.

Cue the nerd rage. Personally, I think it sucks, but I'm not going to slit my wrists over it. I think its a real black eye to blizzard's already-shit customer service.

They are gearing up for 3.3.5 since it has a deadline in essence, and gods knows how much bullshit with the new Battle.net. Then the glory of another bug riddled glorious expansion. Really, this is just another log on the very massive fire.

There is one saving grace, though, in that you can head back to either of the first two matrons to get a whistle if you've already turned in the old world and Outland orphans. That will let you do the achievements that need an orphan out.

Oh noes. You can still get your achievments. The only people that potentially lose out are those that did it last year in that they don't get the 2nd pet.

Without knowing how it would be fixed, I'm not going to call "shit customer service". It may well just be a reset of that quest id, but it might not (there are 2 chains for Northrend iirc).

Actually, once you finish the quests for one of the Orphans you can talk to the Matron to get the item that summons the orphan for the rest of the week.

This is why I did all the quests with my first orphan!

Ugh, tell me about it. I tried to Capture a flag in Eye of the storm.

Our ENTIRE force was camping the flag spawn point. This meant the enemy could capture the towers at will and then nobody can capture the flag at a friendly tower for the achievement.

It was the first time I've ragequit anything for ages.

Cataclysm F&F Alpha
Battle.net integration (which goes live before Cataclysm comes out)
The massive amount of changes Cataclysm entails.

Sorry anyone hoping to finish this meta, but they've got a lot more on their plate right now. Luckily for you, the mount looks fucking ugly as hell otherwise you'd have reason to be pissed off.
And metas have been bugged/been nigh on unachievable before, and the complaints have rolled in, and it's done nothing to Blizzards subscription numbers.

Getting back on topic, yeah it's annoying, but hardly a big deal as if you're affected you've already done it once, or at least should have .

That's the thing - it's a non-issue except in regards to getting all the pets. You can still do every achievement by going back to a matron and getting an orphan whistle for the rest of the week. You can repeat the Outland and Old World orphan quests. Nerdrage indeed!
