Help me build an XBox 360 library

Post by Invictus ChiKen »

So I FINALLY got a 360 ^.^

Right now I have Saints Row 2, Godfather 2, Fable 2 (anyone see a theme there?), Fallout 3, Halo ODST and Forza Motorsport 3 (the last two game with the XBox). I mostly enjoy GTA type games and RPGs can anyone recommend some good games along these lines?

Well, Grand Theft Horse (Red Dead Redemption) is out this weekend, and is looking reasonably good to boot.

Unless you already played them on PC, the Mass Effect series is worth the price of admission. You can skip ME1 if you really want to, although you'll get more out of the (far superior) ME2 if you do go through with it.
A scientist once gave a public lecture on astronomy. He described how the Earth orbits around the sun and how the sun, in turn, orbits around the centre of a vast collection of stars called our galaxy.

At the end of the lecture, a little old lady at the back of the room got up and said: 'What you have told us is rubbish. The world is really a flat plate supported on the back of a giant tortoise.

The scientist gave a superior smile before replying, 'What is the tortoise standing on?'

'You're very clever, young man, very clever,' said the old lady. 'But it's turtles all the way down.'

Borderlands is also worth a throw if you've not played it yet. Good mix of run and gun shootyness with loot whoring.

I thought TES IV: Oblivion was a lot of fun, despite its mixed reception in the gaming community.

Ace Combat 6 is another enjoyable title. The game-play is inferior to previous installments in the series, but if you like flying around beautiful environments it's still worthwhile.

Just Cause 2 is worth a pick up, especially as the price dropped recently to the 40$ range. Far Cry 2 is a good first person shooter with a nice array of weapons and some diamond hunting.

Dragon Age is a nice RPG, though I found it's replay value limited and the classes other then Rogue to be boring as fuck.

I'm going to go ahead and throw out both Assassin's Creed games (though the sequel is far superior), Arkham Asylum and Dead Space if you can find it in the bargain bin. I'll also second Borderlands simply because of how much content it has (it's also better than ODST). Dragon Age is basically single player world of warcraft, so your mileage on that one may vary. Darksiders is a zelda style game that's not bad, but definitely rental territory.

Well Dead Space is around 19$ here, definitely a good buy. The ending was kind of a "what just happened?" but it's well put together.

If you like JRPGs try Lost Odyssey. It's not spectacular but it's decent enough.

GUN is an old, cheap, and pretty decent game.

Mercenaries 2 is also a fun, light hearted game. Similar to GTA/Saints Row/JC 2 in that it's open world, with a tonne of vehicles and weapons to use. Unfortunately the multi-player portion isn't supported anymore so you'll have to disable that in your settings or the game won't run.

If you're getting any of the Ubisoft stuff, just note that to my knowledge, Uplay support hasn't been retroactively added to older games like AC1; I don't think even Vegas 2 has it. I have other preferences for games, but they're not in the vein of the OP. Shall I PM?

Seconding Ass Effect 1 & 2.

Gizzawar 1 & 2. Modern Warfare 1 & 2 are fun, the latter feels less than it's predecessor but I've still gotten' hours of fun out of it.

Assassin's Creed 1 can be safely skipped over in its entirety. It has nothing over AC2, and there's no benefit you get for playing it before you play the sequel. Just read the plot summary on Wikipedia, and save yourself 6 hours of mind numbing repetition after the initial 3 hours of joy.

Get Gears of War 2. You can get the game of the year edition for around $30, and it includes all the DLC, which is something like almost a dozen maps and an extra level for the campaign.

I'd recommend Tales of Versperia and Eternal Sonata if you're looking for additional JRPGs.

I'm an RPG & adventure game fan so I recommend:
BioShock 1 & 2
Dragon Age
Mass Effect 1 & 2
Wolfenstein
Dead Space
Gears of War 1 & 2
The Saboteur
Oblivion (GOTY Edition)
Dante's Inferno

I'm going to take some flaming here and say I didn't like Assassin's Creed 2. Once I discovered The Truth and doubly so when I got to the end, I felt like my intelligence was thoroughly insulted.

"The Truth" might not have been the best reveal ever, but AC2's characters are vastly more sympathetic than the ones in AC1.

I give you that, I thoroughly enjoyed the game until the game decided it wanted to piss me off with moronic reveals on Tesla and the two big ones at the end.

Bioshock should be cheap enough by now. Pick up #2 and you can stay in your sequel comfort zone.

What exactly is a 'sequel comfort zone' if not brand slavery? :D

It's worth noting which games should be rented and which bought. Asscreed and Metro are good games, but are a weekend tops with no replayability. Gears or Saints2 can be played forever. Just Cause 2 is a solid game, but gets old/laughably easy very quickly.

Look, the best approach to Assassin's Creed at this point is to ignore the main story. The story concerning the Ancestor's stands well on it's own, and doesn't suffer from Spoiler
The roman gods were aliens who enslaved people until adam and eve escaped, every famous person ever was a templar or an assassin, and also the sun is going to murder us all
