Carter and Clinton vs Bush

Post by theski »

A question for the qroup. Does anyone remember any former presidents criticizing a sitting president and his policies. I think this just makes it easier for the rest of the world to take their shots, if one of our own is leading the anti war cheers..
Sudden power is apt to be insolent, sudden liberty saucy; that behaves best which has grown gradually.

Herbert Hoover criticized FDR a good deal. I'm sure I can remember Bush the first taking shots at the Clinton administration a couple of times. It's nothing new, really.

Sad to say, there is a previous instance of this behavior, and sadder to say, it came from the man who was my favorite president overall (ah well, nobody's perfect). Former President Theodore Roosevelt was outspoken in his criticism of both his handpicked successor, William Howard Taft (whom Roosevelt felt had let him down), and Woodrow Wilson (whom TR repeatedly and publicly accused of cowardice when Wilson tried to keep the U.S. out of WWI).

Diffrent Situation, unless you mean Bush Senior but I can't recall any Clinton bashing while he was out of office, Bush Jr, is in office, Exective right to complain and all that

The diffrence is of course, Bush Sr, bowed to the UN and stoped the March into Bagdad(Despite the fact we were kicking ass and taking names with no serious resistance inbetween us and their captial)
He should not have stoped but he bowed to our allies concernes

Meanwhile Clinton oked a deal designed by Carter to give North Korea Power Plants capable of making weapons grade nuclear materials after NK promised they would do no such thing(Woops!)

Meanwhile Clinton ran around invading foreign Countrys and getting UN support after the fact, When it matterd to him that is
Rowanda mass genocid? Who cares!
Kosovo mass genocid? Wh... Wait a second, the week we would being is the week before I go before the Grand Jury, On second thought.....

I'm not saying we should not have gone into Kosovo, I'm saying if Monica had never come out then we would not have gone. We did not go in Rowanda despite repeated requests for aid and all the nice news Media of rows opon rows of dead bodys and terms being throw around like "Another Holocaust"

Meanwhile Kosovo took most people by surpise

And don't forget the 98 strike that fire off a few hundred cruise missles at Bagdad the day before Clinton is due off for another day in Court and he has no follow up after the fact(But then he does not go back to Court either)
