It's a very wonderful and effusing gesture made by the Russians, maybe unprecedented and, together with the Poland thing, shows that they seem to be making moves to open up to the rest of the world - which is something really nice and beautiful of Russia. There were 11,000 troops in the parade. 1 company of Americans (250ish?) and a company of Welsh (250~). Thats 1/22 of the entire thing.

Seriously I think Russians would be pleasantly surprised to see an unexpected bunch of Englanders and Amerikaners and Peruvians marching all of a sudden, amidst all those Topols and whatevers. Like, after years of seeing all the same stagnant Russian military hardware which're probably the same ones they paraded around since Khrushchev was around, it might be a welcomed change. I mean, look at those Redcoats! Look at those HATS! Woah! Next time, the Brits should bring Scottish troopers in with skirts and bagpipes! Man, the Russians will love it! Da, comrades!

I'm pretty sure those are SU-100s, based on the appearance and size and the fact those were kept in reserve units for decades, straight into the 1990s, so there would be plenty to preserve in full working condition, whereas the SU-85 is comparatively rare.
