Seconding:
Deadspace (sequel is still on track for this year, last I checked. Extremely good atmosphere, although a little short and easy once you get the hang of it.)
Mercs 2 (Rental bait though... it's fairly short, and all of the contracts speak english only this time... so there's no point to playing through with the other mercs... Also the DLC is worthless...)
Gears of War (2 is better... and for the most part 1 can be skipped... but they're both good rides in their own rights.)
Borderlands (Stock game is extremely short, and the quests and bosses are rather uninspiring... Can't comment on the DLC. Probably worth it on Console, I just won't SecuROM my comp...)
Ace Combat 6 (Solid enough... Story and characters kinda suck... but honestly, for me, the Ace Combat games are about blowing shit out of the sky. Plus the Wingmen this time aren't useless, the support attack option is almost overpowered... The super plane this time has some neat options too...)

Adding:
Earth Defense Force 2017 (Very, very simple shooter. But the enemies are GIANT ANTS, SPIDERS, AND ROBOTS! It was dirt cheap when I got it years ago, so it should be real cheap now. It is pretty obviously a low budget title though.)
Armored Core 4 & For Answer (The best Armored Cores to date.)

Operation Darkness (Pretty poorly received, but I've enjoyed what I've played. About 2/3rds... On a finishing old games kick, so I'll probably get to it soon. Strategy RPG.)

As an oddball... Maybe Viva Pinata: TiP... It's fairly relaxing... but eh, might not be your speed.

Suggesting Blands is shorter than Deadspace is pretty disingenuous. You can finish Deadspace in a day and have no reason to ever play it again, whereas you can still be playing Blands six months later.

That is true... Though, I'd imagine a lot of the replay of Borderlands comes from multiplayer messing around and the add ons...

I beat Borderlands three times, two of them with a friend, and haven't felt the need to pick it back up. Especially after they killed custom weapons...

Not that the SMG I made wasn't the Feels-so-right form of wrong though... Never made anything outright wrong though... (Like those rocket launchers that could crash the game...)

Yeah, stopping people cheating in a game about loot; how horrible. And DLC extending a games' lifespan? So terrible! Deadspace has what - overpriced gun reskins, which are doubly stupid because the pistol is the only gun you need?

Blands is built around coop multi and remains playable. SP-only games - unless they're very good, very long or flexible - just don't.

Yeah, Deadspace's DLC was basically Horse Armor part deux.

But the Base Borderlands game is pretty mediocre. The loot plateaus extremely quickly. Which, for a game about loot, is a very bad thing.

Also, from what I hear, they still don't scale any of the content beyond "Beat final boss, everything is now 50/60/whatever cap is currently. Not too much of a problem, because they have the xp set in such a way that if you do everything, you're always either exactly the right level, or slightly over leveled...

Though when you aren't, it highlights the extremely sharp curve level has in the damage equations.

But, I think we've gotten into this before.

Well.....trying to think of what I have.

If you like Arcadey flight games, Blazing Angels 1 and 2 are both dirt cheap now.

I'd get Episodes from Liberty City if I were you, one advantage is that if you get killed in a mission you no longer necessarily go right back to the beginning.

You like JRPG's, a warning, stay well away from Enchanted Arms, its one of the most mind numbingly uninspired pieces of crap around.

I've played The Saboteur and enjoyed it, but being Pandemic it can crash sometimes, and the sheer number of freeplay targets if you feel you have to get everything is ridiculous. The main game itself is quite short.

I quite liked both the Army of Two games if you just switch your brain off, majorly switch it off and they should be cheaper now.

Ditto with Battlefield:Bad Company 1 and 2. 2 has better multiplayer, but 1 has the better singleplayer campaign in my opinion.

Another oldie if you like driving games, Flatout:Ultimate carnage.
Don't Move you're surrounded by Armed Bastards - Gene Hunt's attempt at Diplomacy

I will not make any deals with you. I've resigned. I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered. My life is my own - Number 6

The very existence of flame-throwers proves that some time, somewhere, someone said to themselves, You know, I want to set those people over there on fire, but I'm just not close enough to get the job done.

In the third DLC they appear to have somewhat mitigated this, but the game is still very level-centric, too much for my liking. 5 levels down and you're essentially worthless, which makes multi with a mixed group really unfulfilling. Blands 2 will hopefully learn these lessons.

I will second the nomination for Gears 2, especially if you can get all the DLC in some sort of bundle.

It's just over a year of playing it regularly, and I am just now starting to get sick of Horde. Have'nt touched regular multiplayer yet, that will probably keep me entertained for another year till Gears 3 comes out. With the exception of Halo CE I have never, ever gotten this much entertainment out of my gaming dollar, ever.
