It had decent pacing, a sense of surprise, a clear plot, and set the tone for a game. I'd go so far as to say with a little more length and some dialogue it'd be one of the better intros I can recall.
It's easy to bash old primitive intros that had to make do with crappy 3d software and a major lack of experience. In context (and perspective) I think many modern game intros are way worse than the crappy old ones.

Yeah; the bar is WAAAAY higher now. FS1's intro isn't so great now, but at the time it was 'holy shit intros can tell a story says who'.

Heh, I still remember a TV review of FreeSpace 1 waxing poetic about how lifelike and photorealistictm the character's eyes were.

I believe this counts as cruel and unusual punishment.

Knowing nothing about the game I have to say that the intro is not that bad.

The graphics are quite OK (if this was a 1990s game) but the scenario is generally believable.
Thou again I have no idea about the game it self just judging the movie.

The voice acting is kind of strange thou. Like the guys were making an intelligent effort to stay grammatically correct. And you think his voice would change a little once they blew up his friend. At first I thought the pilot might be a robot.
It has become clear to me in the previous days that any attempts at reconciliation and explanation with the community here has failed. I have tried my best. I really have. I pored my heart out trying. But it was all for nothing.

You win. There, I have said it.

Now there is only one thing left to do. Let us see if I can sum up the strength needed to end things once and for all.

It's the most boring five minutes you can have in a game. I didn't even complete it, it was just that dull.

Now the Zelda videos, well I wasn't going to post them out of benevolence to fellow men, but it seems Crossroads has no such compunction.

Mass Effect's intro is pretty bad.
