Just because she's from a Muslim family doesn't necessarily mean she's isn't lapsed or from a more liberalized practice.

Lebanese people out of Lebanon tend to be a lot more liberal and relaxed about their faith than average Americans appear to be about theirs. They'll do the observing and lip service, but part of that is more cultural than religious, like people who do Christmas with the candy canes and Santa and trees, and not go to church. It's that time of the year, you do this thing. Easter means chocolate eggs and bunnies, Eid means sweetmeats and some goat?

It's far more complicated then that. The basic story is we met online and liked each other alot so we started dating. Her family was crazy muslims while she was quite normal, to put it in perspective they wouldn't let her leave the house except for when she was taking classes at her college (which is when we would sneak around to do the usual things couples do, cuddle, watch movies, make out, get naked). Thing is we were only able to see each other for say 2-4 hours a week at most. She had a habit of lying to her family about her relationships, I was her fourth boyfriend but she told her family she was 20 and still never kissed a guy. I wanted more out of the relationship and wanted to give her the things she really deserved like being taken out and treated special. I also wanted to be able to see her more often especially during the summer when there was no school. Her mom would only let her date Muslims. I'm not very religious and to me there's no difference between being christian or anything else, so I was like 'Fine, I'll act somewhat muslim" so I read a bit of the Koran and did the ceremony. I still ate bacon when I was alone but still, just amuses me hearing about this supposed conservative plot.

Being over in Iraq, hanging out with our interpreters most of the bullshit they deal with over here (there?) is similar to what goes on with what we Americans have to deal with religious conservatives back home. There is a nutso minority that makes the majority seem worse than they actually are. The only difference is that unlike back home, here they strap bombs to themselves and kill lots of other people.

A lot of TV enjoyed here comes from Egypt and Lebanon and the women most definitely dress scantily in several shows. Going out on patrol I can definitely tell you there are several very attractive women here. It's just the culture that keeps them holed up.

What I find sad is that any guy would condemn someone for being muslim or arab, as if that somehow affects how physically attractive they are. Or as if it's some kind of attempt by the muslims to "poison" us with their hot women. Did these guys somehow miss Shakira (Lebanese-Colombian), Salma Hayek (Mexican-Lebanese), or Tehmeena (Pakistani)?

The reasons for this blood lust include the desire to take over their land, whether to drill for "our" oil or to provide Lebensraum for Jewish squatters.
