Episode III: What expectations do you have?(Maybe Spoilers)
I was wondering after thinking about how great AOTC was, I was wondering what expectations you have for EP III? Do you think it's going to bomb out and be an Idiots tale like TPM? or do you think it will be darker than ESB, with endless amounts of evil, and great CG destruction. Are you Expecting huge space battles or another ground battle? Maybe the ultimate lightsaber scene. Are you expecting to see a lot less love scene bull crap and more action? Are you expecting to see EU material get trampled or would you like to see Lucas use old or EU related SW vehicles in the next film? Would you like to see famous character cameos like Chewie? Are you expecting to see Jar Jar get cut in two at the torso? Reports and interviews are stating that this is going to be the Darkest chapter in the SW saga, and rumors had it that Lucas was almost on the virge of making in Rated PG-13 or Rated R, which he vowed never to do for a Star Wars movie. Do you think EP III will live up to your expectations or do you think it will flounder and bomb out. What do you think?
Star Destroyers.
Gresome death of Jar-Jar.
Emperor on his seat of power
Anakin in his full Vader outfit
cool death for mace windu (ie like Boromir in FotR)
It will not bomb. Lucas will make a masterpiece to rival any other movie in exsistence. And yes I am very optimistic about this movie.
And if it really sucks, I will give up on star wars forever and watch nothing but Star Trek VGR and ENT.

George Lucas said Ep III will be mostly Anakin, not Darth Vader, but we will get to see Darth Vader in the full suit, according to George Lucas.
IMHO these will happen
1: Big space battle in the first half of the movie between the Republican Navy and the Seperatists: it will most definitely feature Anakin in a fighter ("he was the best starfighter pilot in the galaxy"). We may even get some exposition on "General" Kenobi fighting with Bail Organa during the Clone Wars.
2: Anakin vs Darth Tyranus (Anakin will take his place at the Emperor's side)
3: Obi-Wan vs Anakin- from what Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen have said- they've made a pact to practice their lightsaber fighting in Australia for months- this will be the definitive SW lightsaber fight.
4: Palpatine will declare himself Emperor and disolve the Republic. The Senate will remain however.
5: Padme may or may not die. "She died when I was very young"- an infant/ toddler etc. wouldn't be able to remember details like "beautiful, kind but sad". I doubt we'll see little-girl Leia, so I reckon Padme will go to Alderaan and die in between the films.
6: C-3P0 and R2-D2 will have their memories wiped; or some other way to deal with that they don't remember Obi-Wan etc.
7: Jedi getting wiped out. This can happen in various ways: I think I speak for everyone though when I say that I would like to see Vader wield the crimson lightsaber against a Jedi, preferably Mace Windu, but he'll probably die earlier. In any case, I think Anakin pre-helmet will be doing most if not all of the killing; perhaps some clonetroopers will also be used. Here's a fantasy I hope comes true- the red Royal Guards backing him up!!!
8: Obi-Wan takes Luke to Owen and Beru.
9: Yoda goes to Dagobah.

Generally, I try and keep my hopes from getting to high...that way I can enjoy the movie much more (I keep hearing people gripe, "It wasn't supposed to happen like that in the spoiler I read!") Or they build up the movie to where nothing could possibly meet their expectations, but the one thing I do hope to see is a terrific space battle (And Anakin hopefully will play a pivital role) At least that way they can back up Obi-Wan's statement about Anakin being the best starfighter in the galaxy without having to refer to his "lucky shot" when he took out the Trade Federation Battleship.

I want to see a big Space Battle, in that space battle I don't want it to focus on the fighters...I want to see Cap ship vs. Cap ship, I want to see Heavy Turbolasers striking ships, I wanna see a real battle. ROTJ had a good fight but it mostly followed the fighters (Which is still cool) but I want to see Cap ships fight each other.

1. I want to see a BDZ. I want to see a BDZ. I want to see a BDZ. I want to see a BDZ. I want to see a BDZ. I want to see a BDZ.
But it's not going to happen.
2. The fight between the Separatists and the Republic should have all the ships we've seen so far plus BIGGER ships fighting at LONG RANGES with COMPUTER AIDED TARGETING so we can SEE the fighting even though it takes place over HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF KILOMETRES. And there should be BIG, MULTI-GT explosions. Hopefully a VSD or something will shoot a hole through a small moon in order to hit a ship on the other side. THAT would be great. Or maybe if budget is a concern, just have someone reading fire orders in the background ordering All Heavy Turbolasers to be set to 200 GT, or something similar like 1E whatever.
3. A Star Destroyer should blow up some of the big ships like TFBs or Acclamators near the end of the movie. Not only would it be a transition from old to new, but it would canonically demonstrate that ISDs are vastly more powerful than anything else in EP I-III. Maybe some of the really old TIE fighter prototypes could make an appearance.
But it's not going to happen.

I want to see a Base Delta Zero operation.
And I want to take like a few minutes, like the intro of the first LEXX movie when the Foreshadow rips the Brunnen-G planet a new one with a few shots.
I want to see stuff that makes 200GT TL's pale
I wan't to see a ground fight with REAL TACTICS.

hahahah already looking with an eye to the Star Wars vs Star Trek debate eh? The great thing about this is that we warsies can't lose.
a: if the unthinkable happens and something makes out an SW ship to be piss weak in comparison to an ST ship, we can just say well it doesn't apply, it ain't no ISD.
b: if we see a ship use some really cool firepower that proves gigaton level firepower, we can naturally and *rightly* say that an ISD is more powerful (which is bleeding obvious).
However I don't think we'll see anything really impressive. We'll get our space battle, yes, and GL will probably buff up the capital ship to capital ship combat (which he finally has the tools to do properly- witness the storm of fire from the Trade Federation Battleships in TPM) but we won't see the heavy firepower conclusively demonstrated.

Actually, I have read in some interviews with Lucas that Ep. III will begin with the end of the clone wars and become a very small and intimate movie, focussing on Anakin, Padme and Obi Wan. I belive that's the way to go, because I think that GL wants us to feel sorry for Anakin. It would defeat the purpose of a hero's fall from grace if we all booed and hissed at the end. He is going to really want to get close in on Anakin and we have to see WHY he turns to the Darkside. Echoes from the past: "I want to become the most powerful Jedi ever. I want to stop people from dying. I believe that there should be one wise ruler." All the seeds are there, now we will see how they germinate and grow to become Darth Vader. We also see the stress of a young man wanting to come out from the shadow of his father (Obi Wan) and so it will end in the mythological equivalent of a son slaying his father to take his place, except in this case, Obi defeats Anakin, sort of reversing that process.
I believe that it will be a small intimate movie as he says and DON'T expect big space battles (save perhaps in the very begining to get that out of the way) but do expect to see alot of drama as we see a hero fall and become a monster. I can't wait.

Don't even try to scare me like that, Stravo! There had damn well be one kick arse space battle! Otherwise GL will have accomplished a mere 2 space battles in 6 movies! And let me tell you, the Battle of Naboo wasn't even really a hoboes space battle! That means ROTJ would be the only true space battle out there!
If GL is gonna end his SW movies, hes gonna end it with a bang. BRING ON THE SPACE BATTLE!

Trust me Darth Garden Gnome, I would LOVE to see a big space battle, and quite frankly we may just yet see one, after all the movie opens with the end of the clone wars so maybe like in ESB, GL will dispense with the combat and action in the begininig (Think Hoth) and focus on character. ESB was a pretty intimate movie, we focus on Luke, Han and Leia. I do belive we will see a certain repeat of the way that movie was structured except it will be even DARKER.Darth Garden Gnome wrote:Don't even try to scare me like that, Stravo! Perhaps your right, Stravo. Maybe he'll just get out the battle at the start and get to what we all knows gonna happen. As long as it isn'ta ground battle. They were cool, and still are, but space battles just hitcha on the spot the way a ground battle never will.
That being said, I'm kinda (just a little) dissapointed there isn't going to be some action pack helluva-space battle at the end. Don't get me wrong (in my opinion) TESB was the greatest SW movie ever. But this is it, its gonna be done with over, endgame man. We need a space battle to wrap it up!
But alas, it wasn't meant to be. Like I said, EpIIIs not gonna have a bunch of stuff I wanna see, but I'll love it anyways.

Lucas is going to have only a little bit of space combat so he can focus on what?
His own storytelling weaknesses, that's what! Does anyone really want to see another hour of Anakin whining and bitching, because that's all Lucas seems able to write. When you take away all the fantastic special effects and combat sequences, you have nothing. Zilch. Zippo. Lucas hasn't even tried to write anything for the audience's benefit since the original trilogy. All the good plot elements from the original trilogy were ripped off from either the Japanese or conventional SCI-FI, none of which were looked at for the bland prequels. Instead, Lucas borrows from his own vast finite imagination. When was the last time someone said 'no' to George Lucas? I think it is time now. Less "I can't write and my actors can't act" sequences, more "stuff going really fast and/or blowing up sequences" are the only thing that can save EP III, given that Lucas is writing it.
I don't want to shell out $$$ to see a story that would be better acted and written for a theatre production than Lucas' blockbuster. I want to see kickass action. The only dialogue should be clever and well-written, and we haven't seen any since the original trilogy. By limiting the action in EP III, his last chance to show a battle worthy of a Galactic Empire, Lucas is making a gross mistake.

Doomriser, I too DREAD a repeat of the fireplace scene in AOTC. I could think of very little cringe worthy scenes in the ENTIRE series, but that one scene more than made up for it. GL's main problem withthe prequels is that he had people around him for the OT who said, "No GL, this would be better, or No, Gl, that just doesn't work." NOW he has people who go "Yesss, massterrr. As you wish." He has become the Emperor Palpatine of LucasFilms.
He needs someone who is strong enough to help him through his weaknesses, ie. Dialogue and character development, and encourage his strengths, Overall themes and action.
I envision the nightmare scenario as a two hour fire place scene broken up by an Obi Wan lightsaber duel and a Dooku/Anakin duel. THAT would be an AWFUL way to end such a wonderful series.

I would like to see at least SOME kind of insight into the Modulator-class and other starship classes mentioned only briefly in the SW2ICS. If it's going to focus more on the characters than on the movie's , it would also be good if we saw the finished construction and commissioning of the very first Victory-class Star Destroyer at the end of the movie.
It would also be very nice if we saw Anakin undergo transformation from a normal-looking guy to the armour-clad Sith Lord we know from the original trilogy.

I doubt we will see anything like that in the movies. But, a prequel era source book might include them.Simon H.Johansen wrote:I would like to see at least SOME kind of insight into the Modulator-class and other starship classes mentioned only briefly in the SW2ICS. The Victory was rejected for ANH. I doubt Lucas would include it. Anyway, I thought the Victory came out just after the Clone wars, or was it just before the end?
