What are you doing? There is no Part 3. Part 1 airs tonight as there was nothing last week.

Hah! I knew last week was 118, not 119, but nobody listened D=
A scientist once gave a public lecture on astronomy. He described how the Earth orbits around the sun and how the sun, in turn, orbits around the centre of a vast collection of stars called our galaxy.
At the end of the lecture, a little old lady at the back of the room got up and said: 'What you have told us is rubbish. The world is really a flat plate supported on the back of a giant tortoise.
The scientist gave a superior smile before replying, 'What is the tortoise standing on?'
'You're very clever, young man, very clever,' said the old lady. 'But it's turtles all the way down.'

Re: SGU 119, Incursion Part 1 (Spoilers)
I'm reserving full judgment after next week, but I generally liked it. Plot threads coming together, decent action, and of course a BC-304.
Re: SGU 119, Incursion Part 1 (Spoilers)
The planet blew up, just as planned, I can't wait to find out that there's another one lying around somewhere next season for the finale. It's pretty damn obvious that mr ghost in the machine who up and disappeared in the earlier episode is the one who made the shield leak radiation onto the dude or whatever it was that happened, and he'll no doubt save the day next episode.
I'm thinking that the Lucian alliance prisoners being on board is looking to have a 99.9% chance of occuring given what happened in this episode.
Tactical appraisal of Young: he's shit. We already know you can revive people after you vent the atmosphere, and even opening the doors when the people just started to lose consciousness or even when they're just hacking and coughing and otherwise non-combatworthy would have been enough of an advantage to storm the gateroom and take it with zero casualties on Destiny's side.
That should have been the plan to begin with anyway.
I'm rating this a 4, it's quite good, but I expect that the resolution next week will be better, so long as they ease up on the Deus Ex Machina that I'm fearing is going to happen.

Re: SGU 119, Incursion Part 1 (Spoilers)
Young is a tard. He chest-punched Telford back to consciousness, why can't they do the same to the Alliance?
I'm wondering what's going to happen to the new people. Obviously, we're not sending them to earth when this is over, and they could actually USE some highly-trained technically capable people on Destiny. Maybe they're going to merge the groups in a tense, drammatic way that Voyager could only have dreamed about? Who knows.
Also, will Telford get command when this is over? He was SUPPOSED to be leading Destiny, and I think he's got a bit more stones than Young.

Seems to me that this show is doing a lot of things that Voyager or Atlantis wanted to do but failed at pretty spectaclarly.in a tense, drammatic way that Voyager could only have dreamed about?

Not really. They get a free ride because the Destiny is already a crumbling piece of crap whereas Atlantis and Voyager were pristine, they've already killed the sense of isolation with the communication stone abuse and all they've really done is turn the nBSG ANGST meter up to 10,000 kilobaltars and left it there.adam_grif wrote:Seems to me that this show is doing a lot of things that Voyager or Atlantis wanted to do but failed at pretty spectaclarly.in a tense, drammatic way that Voyager could only have dreamed about?

Re: SGU 119, Incursion Part 1 (Spoilers)
I give it a 4.
Good episode but obviously weak in depicting military descisions.
Could someone like Young really gain the rank of Colonel with actual combat experience?!
So WTF is wrong with Young?!
It would take one minute to remove the atmosphere from the gateroom. So you do it before they come through, not the moment when.
If it turns out to be reinforcement from earth, pump air back in. if not... get your very own mass snuff movie.
Right now I hope that telford gets command over Destiny because Young made such obvious mistakes.
Interesting what happened to that one LA dude... maybe that key-thingy interacted with the shield and caused some sort of microwave effect.
I guess Eli and Chloe will find something important in that section of the ship. ( armed kinos? , a primitive ring transporte?, the CIC )

Once again, it's blindingly obvious that the dude who magically disappeared from the control chair a few episodes back has somehow merged with the computer, and when he got an opportunity to fry a Lucian Alliance dude he took it. As to the how, it seems that the shield can be modified to leak some kind of apparently deadly radiation or beam or something.Interesting what happened to that one LA dude... maybe that key-thingy interacted with the shield and caused some sort of microwave effect.
The probabiliy of it being an accidental side effect of having a door opener thingy is pretty much zero. It seems random and inexplicable, since it didn't fry teleford as soon as he picked it up. The machine-man merging also ties up the "mysterious" loose end from the previous episode.

Or perhaps the Destiny came out of FTL near a star and the shields cannot fully stop radiation like that.adam_grif wrote:Once again, it's blindingly obvious that the dude who magically disappeared from the control chair a few episodes back has somehow merged with the computer, and when he got an opportunity to fry a Lucian Alliance dude he took it. given that they're still doing the bit in the "previously on" about "being ready for the next encounter," i'm thinking the white light had something to do with the fish-heads.

Yes, the entire episode. Which is why when the Lucian Alliance dialed the Destiny it forced it out of FTL. Wait, they weren't out of FTL the entire episode.adam_grif wrote:They were out of FTL for the entire episode, as noted by the whole "WHY IS THERE NO COUNTDOWN?" scene.

A shield failure that just happened to occur at the same time they were in that area of the ship. A shield failure that specifically targets a person, but somehow doesn't leak radiation over everyone else in the room. From a star (btw, I don't remember seeing any close stars). And the computer starts going wonky at the same time.Alyeska wrote: Or perhaps the Destiny came out of FTL near a star and the shields cannot fully stop radiation like that.
Yeah, no. This wasn't a random act of stellar phenomenon.

I didn't say shield failure. I said the shield cannot fully stop, as in its always that way. Re: SGU 119, Incursion Part 1 (Spoilers)
Destiny did several weird things in this episode, the computers going screwy, no count down to go back to FTL, not going immediately back into FTL like in air and finally that particular section of shield just happening to fail right as the crew are about to get involved in a firefight.
My money really is on Destiny being more sentient than it used to be as a result of the events with the chair.

Your theory is essentialy one of huge coincidence. I hardly think the characters would be going "Oh I have no idea who did this" if it was just an accident, the character themselves didn't seem to propose this.

Destiny apparently has something capable of repelling boarders who endanger the ship's mission. The there is suprise that a guy belonging to a group which caused the locks to be overridden is suddenly killed as a warning is kinda amusing.
Also, anyone notice that the stargate tooks several minutes to actually transmit people and how this completely throw off the Lucian Alliance?

Re: SGU 119, Incursion Part 1 (Spoilers)
The time from dialing connected till the Lucian Alliance leader gave up on them replying and walked through the gate was at least a minute or two. Hell, we are explicitly told by the Carter & Co in orbit that they had less than two minutes before the planet exploded(starting from when the gate dialled/connected), in which the entire time the Lucian Alliance did not radio back.Zac Naloen wrote:What do you mean took several minutes Xon, I didn't get that impression?

Is it me, or do the Lucians not use enough goa'uld technology? I mean, sure, guns. But some goa'uld stun grenades instead of puny TV flashbangs would have been cool. As would zats.
And the masks they put on; well, it would have been much more awesome if at least a couple of them had goa'uld masks instead.

Re: SGU 119, Incursion Part 1 (Spoilers)
After watching it a second time, I have to give it a four.
Young should have pumped the air out of the Gate room after they first sealed it off as a precaution and informed O'Neill about it. It also seemed that the soldiers didn't really seem prepared for the LA to be coming through those doors. They seemed like they were to complacent and caught off guard way to easily.
Also, for a second there I though we were going to see the deaths of some characters, starting with Chloe when she blacked out. Anyway, at least her and Eli can spend some quality time together. It'll be interesting to see what they find out there.
As for the disintegrating LA dude, they do mention something about a shield failure in the preview for next week, but since adam_grif mentioned the disappearing chair guy, which I forgot about, I'm thinking it could very well be tied to him.

That's a good point. I feel underwhelmed with the level of personal tech we see from the LA. I don't see why a lot of personal Goa'uld tech couldn't be adapted for human use.NecronLord wrote:Is it me, or do the Lucians not use enough goa'uld technology? I mean, sure, guns.
