Re: A Crazy Idea Occurred to Me....
Bottom line:
Mace Windu should be out of the story. He's done, we know that he doesn't have any major effect on the course of the Empire after his window-dive, and he never hooked up with the new Jedi when Luke got them going.
However, I don't see it as an open-and-shut case that he died. He's a "never-found-the-body" death, and we've seen that long drops are a really bad way to try to kill Jedi - not to mention that he's on probably one of the easiest planets in the galaxy to pull a disappearing act.
I would like to see a story of him, a more or less broken man, hiding out the rest of the wars and maybe raising a family of his own - but it has to be in such a way that he has no effect whatsoever on the rest of the Star Wars main story. Windu is done after RotS; there's simply no place in the story for him.

Shroomy raises a good point about the lack of traffic around the Senate Rotunda, but we know that there are going to be maintenance vehicles and droids all over the place just keeping things going.
I agree with you Moly, and this is basically what I said in my post. I don't however, see a reason why Mace couldn't still have an impact down the road. Assuming he survived, and being the leader of the last Jedi Council, I just can not see him letting his knowledge die with him. I imagine him somehow saving his repository of knowledge and teachings and finding a way to pass them on when the time is right. His ability to see shatterpoints may lead him to know when the time is right to return his Jedi knowledge to the galaxy. That said, him having a direct impact is definitely out of the question. Windu is, like you said, done.
But of course there are about a hundred characters that should have been done already, but the EU just keeps dragging them along. I mean, they might as well do it with a character I like.

It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses.
Hit it.

Why do we need to see the body EVERY time someone is killed in order to believe they are dead?

Re: A Crazy Idea Occurred to Me....
Dude, you really want to see BAD ASS MOTHAFUCKA MACE WINDU turned into what they did to Luke/Han? He'd become some grumbly whiny black geezer sitting with his homey Lando drinking some cheap Colt .45 whining about how back in the day he would've carved the latest Dark Sith wannabe from crotch to crown with one swing of his mad purple lightsaber. BUT because Luke Impotent Skywalker is in charge, he'd not get his chance because his shuttle is stuck in traffic behind some fat ass purple honky with three cocks and four tits. Then we'd have flava of the week Jedi whatever revive Luke by sucking on his cock and having him last second the biznatch. So Mace then wobbles back to his table bitching about how the honkies deprived him of his manhood.Havok wrote:But of course there are about a hundred characters that should have been done already, but the EU just keeps dragging them along. Be honest. What you want will not happen, but what you do not want would be some horrifying descent into hell of the Jedi you thought he was. And people would praise it as a work of art.

I say the EU adds a short Story where Mace starts to stand up after he survives his fall, but is then struck by an oncoming speeder and killed (perhaps being driven by the grandfathers of Tag and Bink?).

El Moose Monstero: That would be the winning song at Eurovision. I still say the Moldovans were more fun. And that one about the Apricot Tree.
That said...it is growing on me.
Thanas: It is one of those songs that kinda get stuck in your head so if you hear it several times, you actually grow to like it.
General Zod: It's the musical version of Stockholm syndrome.

Which doesn't really apply in the same way because Palpatine wasn't surviving off-screen or off the page, he was transferring his essence across space. The old body was still destroyed.

Because it's fiction, and space opera, at that.Darth Fanboy wrote:Why do we need to see the body EVERY time someone is killed in order to believe they are dead?
Honestly, you've never run across this before? How many times has Spider-man died, or Sherlock Holmes, or James T. Kirk? Hell, even Hal Jordan came back eventually.
People hate leaving characters dead.

Re: A Crazy Idea Occurred to Me....
About Mace falling from high up. It's possible he survived. He sure had enough time while falling. It's possible the severed arm sent him into shock, and the FL shorted out his nervous system and turned him into street pizza. But what about the adrenalin surge from falling? Or while you were drunk, ever get into a fight, or one broke out right beside you? Or for that matter any dangerous situation? Nothing sobers you up more. Also, another reason I hate this period of SW history, for years we've been reading how awesome the Jedi are, demi gods like the Earth 2 Superman, trained to the extreme, able to take on any situation. Jedi Exile was unconscious and still used his jedi training to keep safe from poison in KOTOR 2. Corran Horn used the Force to save his life and others in untested ways with untested powers throughout I,Jedi , and he was not even fully trained. Then along comes ROTS, and the Jedi seem to go retarded and behave like Harold and Kumar. Maybe that's why they were killed so easily, they were stoned.
In any case, last year there was a guy who fell 4000 m because his parachute didnt open properly and came out of it with 2 broken legs. However they kill off Mace, make sure it isn't by Boba Fett's hand, that would just be such a dumb cliche.
