Tablet PC recommendations
No Ipad suggestions please, not interested. I am looking for a device with a touch screen, preferably running windows 7. Something that fits that space between my Iphone and Netbook. I am a constant traveler thanks for my profession so sometimes even a netbook is a pain to pop out on a plane/cab wherever.
No real budget limitations, I had my eyes on the HP slate till they killed that.

There is nothing between your iphone and a netbook that will run windows 7. All such devices start at netbook level.

I was hoping for a name brand that I had actually heard of before, there are tablets out there that actually run it, just was hoping someone had an opinion on one.

Archos is a rather well respected brand, mostly in MID and small media players. I can't comment on their tablets but I do have a small media player made by them and it's well built. You could do a lot worse.
Maybe you are looking for something like the Joojoo pad. It doesn't run windows 7 but it's smaller then a netbook.

I think Fujitsu made a slate recently with a Core 2 processor.Laird wrote:No Ipad suggestions please, not interested. I am looking for a device with a touch screen, preferably running windows 7. Uh, Asus is releasing the Eee Pad PC soon, allegedly it has 10 hour battery life but it's confirmed to be running Windows 7.
Sorry Beowulf, but that's almost exactly what he might be looking for. I'm myself holding out for the 1st good Android Tablet (or even Chrome OS but who knows if that thing will ever come to fruition?) but this Eee Pad looked instantly attractive when I read the 10 hour battery life... no, it won't have some massive App store, but that won't be as bad as it has a Windows install. Of course, it remains to be seen how fast this thing will be. Netbooks with Atom & Windows XP (using one right now) choke badly, way too often.

I am not against android/chrome, I am just more comfortable with Windoze. I saw a dell droid tablet that looked alright, the Epad is awhile off...I was kinda looking for something now. I suppose I could wait it out a few more months.

Re: Tablet PC recommendations
Isnt the eeePad the one that actually has 2.5 working hours of battery? Zak and I were looking through a bunch of knockoffs the other day.
Since Atoms can slread run Win7 and netbook tasks, they obviously don't 'choke'.

Lenovo s10-3t. It's a hybrid between a tablet and a netbook, but it may have better battery life than the EEEpad. Of course, expect to download some drivers for it to work properly.
