Also, folks, there's reason to conclude that the C'tan don't care for clones so much as people with distinct origins. Their regime in the past is described as being cruel overlords to independent civilisations. Not just setting up force-growth clone farms. A C'tan would most likely just take any imperial offer, butcher the imperials and flay their minds apart for their secrets, and then proceed to play with the Galactic Empire.

Yes, but from what my mates over on Astro said, Mechanicum is dubiously canon at best. That, or it was a like or hate it kinda book. One of those two XD
Sorry, my mind get's frazzled every two hours, sorta like a goldfish in that respect.
So, yeah, while the Necron allies would be hard to rationalize, I really wouldn't put it past the Deceiver to try and out Just as Planned Palpsy.
That will never happen. And until it does happen, the Deciever would be willing to let Nighty get fed and worshipped by the Imperials.

Considering how similar the fluff in Mechanicum is to the fluff in Titanicus, I find it hard to believe that anyone could believe that the current portrayal of all this Martian is not GW's canon. There is a person at GW who approves all of the background published in BL novels. Also, the Horus Heresy is pretty well mapped out in writers' workshops with the main editors of BL as well as the keeper of the fluff. If the fluff appeared in Mechanicum, then it is prety darn sound.
Most people I know really enjoyed Mechanicum. I wonder about this love-hate reaction you mentioned; are the people who hate the book just the people who don't want its background to be canon?

Possible, but most of their complaints were with it's pacing and structure. Now that I think back, I'm becoming mroe and more sure that it was how it was written that was love-hate, rather than the story.
... I needa nab me Dues Ex Mechanicus. It basically accounted for half of the entries in the Necron codex, and is basically supposed to be the story of the mechanicum discovering/being told exactly what's going on, with the whole machine spirit stuff.
Anywho, I need to sleep.

Like every other BL release, it's full top-tier canon. And it's awesome. Get better friends.Commander Xillian wrote:Yes, but from what my mates over on Astro said, Mechanicum is dubiously canon at best. That, or it was a like or hate it kinda book. One of those two XD
Uh... Palpatine's really not that bright. He decieved people because he had stronger magic, not because he was particularly subtle. And frankly, Dark Empire wank-clone at the most generous interpretations would be required to even have a chance of surviving combat with a C'tan. So, yeah, while the Necron allies would be hard to rationalize, I really wouldn't put it past the Deceiver to try and out Just as Planned Palpsy.

Or, comparing like-with-like, Palpy's foresight runs to decades at most that we've seen. The Deciever's foresight eclipses Eldrad Ulthran's.

Crikey. We'd need Galactic_Juggernaut's version of Palpatine to stand a chance against the C'tan. Even then, he'd probably still lose.

Well, by mundane standards Palpatine was a political genius. By the standards of actual gods of trickery, he's an amateur.

Yeah, kinda hard for even political geniuses to stand up to Gods of trickery, deception and so on
On a side note, I know that the Nightbringer is the personification of Death, and that the Deceiver is the God of trickery and deception.
What are the Outsider and Void Dragon associated with?

Cool. I geuss the Void Dragon being associated with technology makes sense if he really is the machine-god. It'll be pretty devastating when he wakes up and emerges

Frankly, I think Necronlord offered you some useful advice. You clearly need to do something to elevate your station.

Read closer.
First of all, I never said you were the fanboy in question. I specifically referred to your friends.
Second, you just reacted to Necronlord's comment on the quality of the novel and the quality of your friends' judgment by calling him an elitist ass. If that doesn't open the door for "rudeness", then what does? Besides, you seem like the kind of guy who can appreciate it when I call it like I see it.
Third, nearly every response from you on the subject has been of the form "Well, I didn't read it, but my friends who did said [nonsensical statement in context]." If you haven't even read it, why are you commenting? If you absolutely must comment, why are you being so passive aggressive, and how can you expect us not to criticize your friends when you hide behind them and attribute to them some rather dodgy positions? It really comes across like Necronlord said something you didn't like, so you tried to declare it non-canon. People disagreed with you, so you hid behind your friends. NL told you to get better friends (hardly a harsh word of advice on this forum) and you respond by calling him an elitist ass. I found the comment too ironic to avoid commenting on it, probably came across even snarkier than I meant to, and here we are.
Fourth, this is Stardestroyer.fucking.net. Grow a thicker skin. Jesus, just be glad you didn't accidentally say that you liked the last episode of Battlestar Galactica.
If I am acting butt-hurt, good sir, it is only because you are being a pain in the ass.

Hm. Well said. I appologize for coming across like that, I had in no way intended to act like that. I'll be more mindful of my actions in the future. The reason I brought it up was out of a nagging suspicion, mostly due to whether or not my sources(friends) had told my they did not prefer one or the other, so I had brought it up.
This may be arguing semantics, infact i'll say it was, but I did not mean to say that necronlord IS an Elitist ass, but that he was acting like one. Thank you bob for bringing my faults to my attention.
