I really hate them. They're an insult to our intelligence.

But "Raymond" is cool...

I watched Cheers religiously when I was in university. Maybe it's just the old fogey in me talking, but I think it's head and shoulders above these recent sitcoms. I remember some people comparing "Friends" to "Cheers" once, and I almost threw up.

Cheers was great. I also like MASH and Seinfeld is often funny.
Friends, as I have stated before, sickens me.

All in the Family. The pinnacle. The best. At least until the kids left.

Also rans: The Dick Van Dyke Show, M*A*S*H*, and Married With Children. Malcom in the Middle is excellent, but it hasn't been around long enough for me to declare it a "classic".

Malcolm in the Middle is an extremely well-done show.
Family Guy had a great run, but was knocked aside by reality shows.
Third Rock from the Sun is also hilarious.

Malcolm in the Middle

As a note I've been watching sitcoms since I was 6, and I'm 17 now.

Used to watch Night Court. Now I struggle through Korean shows. It really is true about jokes being a product of the culture. My wife will laugh hilariously at some things and I'll sit their like a potatoe (even after the translation).

Hmm...Not a lot of good stuff on Network TV nowadays...I like:

Cheers (Above and beyond ANY sitcom on TV today. The chemistry was PERFECT)
Frasier (A very funny show at times since Kelsey Grammer is a great actor)
All in the Family (Broke so many boundaries)
That 70's Show (Cleverly written with great actors)
Futurama (Utterly hilarious)
Newsradio (superkaratemonkeydeathcar!)
Married...With Children (In the same tradition of All in the Family)
Family Guy (whatever little of it I saw :P)

I used to like Seinfeld but now I see it more as the trials and travails of a group of shallow, trendy assholes.

"Friends" didn't start out so bad, but today it doesn't have any other redeeming qualities than Jennifer Aniston.

that 70's show is the best sitcom on tv right now. as for classics? All in the family tops the list. i can remember my first apartment, my roomates and I had no cable and the fox station would play 4 reruns of all in the family every day. 2 at 7:00 and 2 at 11:00. That was some laughs...or maybe it was all the pot. i dunno.

Hurumph. Is it 'remastered'? Coz I won't bother if it is.
I've got them all on VHS anyway.

OK. The ONLY reason I bought a joint VCR/DVD player was that Red Dwarf wasn't out on DVD.
