Re: New The Old Republic trailer
Am I the only one who thinks it was a bit much? Seems to always be X-TREME SERIOUS action bracketed by gratuitous slow motion bits in pretty much every action flick these days, not just the Star War trailers. It gets kind of boring...Aside from in Spartacus: Blood and Sand, where it's totally ridiculous, but makes up for it by being very self-aware (at least to me).
What happened to dramatic, tense action sequences, like the ANH or TESB duels? Where the participants actually seem...human.

The reason this happens is that the non-Jedi have to be competitive in the game. Otherwise the game would be nothing but Jedi.

Re: New The Old Republic trailer
If the trailer in any ways mirrors gameplay this will be one the most intense games ever. Somehow I doubt that and thus most of the trailer was who can one up someone else in said trailer.Adamskywalker007 wrote:The reason this happens is that the non-Jedi have to be competitive in the game. Does a pretty good job of showcasing how horrible the Republic Army (or whoever they are) are though. High ground, automatic and explosive weapons, enemy caught flat-footed? Fuck it! Charge!

That's because you get negative Mando points for using optimal ground. You get +5 for leaving said ground, and +10 for engaging in hand to hand!Aaron wrote:Does a pretty good job of showcasing how horrible the Republic Army (or whoever they are) are though. So by the end, our erstwhile commander was bathing in Mando points when he unleashed his point blank grenade tactic!

Wow. Those look positively craptacular... I mean... seriously. It looks like amateur garbage. And I have to use a fucking key board and mouse? And pay monthly? Fuck off.
I will say that the ship designs look pretty cool, if a little ripoffish.
I mean, I get the whole making a connection thing... but the idea that designs look exactly the same thousands of years ago as they do in ANH is fucking asinine.

I'm going to assume that its all early stuff, cause it looks worse then the first KOTOR.

Re: New The Old Republic trailer
So...can anybody explain why Satele Shan is the descendant of Revan and Bastila? Is this another attempt to milk the KOTOR crowd revealed in a new product I am not aware of yet?

A decision must be made in the life of every nation at the very moment when the grasp of the enemy is at its throat. Then, it seems that the only way to survive is to use the means of the enemy, to rest survival upon what is expedient, to look the other way. Well, the answer to that is 'survival as what'? A country isn't a rock. It's not an extension of one's self. It's what it stands for. It's what it stands for when standing for something is the most difficult! - Chief Judge Haywood

It's not established fact. In the Threat of Peace webcomic it's revealed that at least some Sith believe she is, when after they fight on Dantooine he says that if she truly is Revan's progeny she belongs with the Sith.Thanas wrote:So...can anybody explain why Satele Shan is the descendant of Revan and Bastila? the biography section confirmed that bastila is her ancestor. I also thought it was obvious that they did the dirty LONG AGO. Fans were speculating as far back as 2006 for crying out loud.
Re: New The Old Republic trailer
Yeah, they did the dirty. It is very much canon. However, that does not mean a xhild, unless you think Bastila is the sort of person to abandon an infant when looking for Revan.Darth Yan wrote:the biography section confirmed that bastila is her ancestor. Yeah, which is why her biography page apparently has blood of Revan or so on it in Aurabesh.General Schatten wrote:It's not established fact. just cause we don't see the kid doesn't mean bastila wasn't carrying her around with her. She could have easily been in the other room when Bastila was talking to carth

Re: New The Old Republic trailer
when did she go into the unknown regions? And she had plenty of allies (Carth, Mandalore) who could pass as babysitters. The only way the sith would know the kid was revan's child was if they did a test, and if the tyke's adequately protected they aint gonna do that.

Shortly after Revan disappeared IIRC.Darth Yan wrote:when did she go into the unknown regions?

Well, it is not only the sith saying that. However, I have to retract my earlier statement - given SW medical technology and given that she is a Jedi, there are plenty of options (Stasis field etc) to keep an embyro safe until the mother returns or even assure its upbringing if the mother did not return.

Why wouldn't she? She's not your average Jedi and the Order wasn't exactly in stellar shape at the time, but it's not like Jedi have had a problem leaving kids in the care of other Jedi.Thanas wrote:Yeah, they did the dirty.
