Nah, no problem.

I know I've come horribly late to this thread, but having just watched the trailer... wow. It put more emotion, more sense of reckless hope, more contrast between service to a cause against hate and power than ever in the prequels. Now if the game is even a fraction as good as that trailer, we have a winner.

Pretty much no information at all. They basically say:
"We have PvP, a Rock/Scissor/paper system, different class roles ( :P )".
That's about the whole information we get - which can be applied to every MMO ever.

They either have really shitty PR or nothing special to present.

Apparently they have ships...wonder how they'll work.

PvP? They have Rock/paper/scissors. So gear and oh yeah...they yaboo with glasses basically goes "You're the best smuggler and they are...dumbass Jedi/Sith!". Oh and PvP zones. So WoW...well, when it was concieved and gear didn't fuck things to a new level.

Sound like a lot of Single Player and grouping is needed in other zones. It sounds like WoW. I mean really...really like WoW. His whole spiel of tank trooper/jedi DPS was literally straight out of WoW.

Oh and voiced...everything.

And...LMAO. Tank/healer/DPS. Watching the Trooper doing ranged tank? I'm sorry, I was thinking "SUPAH WARLO...MANDO BADASS!!!". I wonder if the hunter will have some little mouse droid tank for him.

Honestly, it is looking like KoTOR WoW with voices. The UI looks a wee too similar and aside from story, I am having the dread of hear Darth Penor, first Sith Lord Rancor as a multi-group boss.

Indeed. Having the soldiers/troopers be tanks seems weird to me. You'd think some sort of trait/skill combo on a Jedi would be a tank with troopers being dps or AOE. I was kind of hoping they'd make the Jedi/Sith classes versital or hybrids so you could be tank/healer/dps if you built them that way. Save the troopers, rogues, and bounty hunters for ranged, AOE, and even pets.

They did. Jedi Knight and Sith Warrior are melee DPS/Tank. The Consular and Inquisitor are healers with some DPS. Smuggler is turning up to be ranged DPS/crowd control alongside the Imperial Agent. Commando and Bounty Hunter are ranged DPS/Tanks with a minor in crowd control.

And I really don't see how being WoW+KotOR is a bad thing GR. WoW is extremely successful and there's more than enough disenfranchised WoW players (like myself) who would like a similar but different game. I apologize if you thought this game was being designed for you, but I don't think Bioware expected to make a game so much better than WoW to tear people as heavily invested as yourself from it.

As for creatures with classes we've already got the Sarlaac Enforcer.

The game is made for me? What the flying fuck type of egotistical moron would say or believe that shit? Oh wait, can't point out that the game essentially reminds one of another game that is already on the market without invoking the wrath of the fans.

So to answer? They could've gone with Blizzard route and actually tried to find what the genre lacked and actually filled that spot. Most pin Blizzard success on that fact it didn't just simply imitate a single game but took what was desired in many, and gave simplier and easier access from there. So what has this done? So far all the information we have is the dialogue will change paths and it's SW. To some it is no different then SW flavored WoW, with all the warts and problems that WoW has.

So I wonder why there would be any possible voice of dissent.

No, it's a problem when you continue to whine incessently that it's just like WoW except where it isn't, like total voice-acting and a much greater emphasis on story, even though that's exactly what we've expected and it's not intended to pull in the hardcore raidersplayers
fact it didn't just simply imitate a single game but took what was desired in many

They did. They wanted to take MMORPGs and give them an actual story like in SP RPGs, turns out the overriding is opinion is that for MMOs WoW is the first word and KoTOR & ME are the same for SP. The only other thing I can think of worth emulating from other MMORPGs is Warhammer Online's PvP for XP system.

So I wonder why you're criticizing it for being like WoW when you're infamous in the gaming forum for being a hard-core raider, it's like you're put out they didn't include something to give you significant enough incentive to switch games.

To be honest, Final Fantasy XI accomplished the "putting story in MMO" bit years ago.

That's good if you're into JRPG storylines, but it's not for most Western players.

I think that's essentially the idea of the game.

As far as the trailer goes, it looks absolutely great. The whole jumping down from the cliff didn't really make sense to me. But again, neither does Stormtroopers running up towards Starkiller in the TFU2 trailer. As a non-force person with a ranged weapon, you'd think the smart thing to do is to keep your distance as opposed to running headstrong right into melee action. The Hope trailer was longer and had more action but the first Deceived trailer was better done.

Fuck Sith Lord and his power, apparently Traviss is right about Commando Manhood.
That's exactly what my reaction was to the trailer for the Force Unleashed. Pulling Star Destroyers out of the sky with mad force powerz? This is truly Dragonball level wank.

They're completely blowing the Jedi up to ridiculous levels. They're supposed to be a step beyond human, akin to the fantasy ninjas in over-the-top ninja movies. Super high jumps, check. Insane acrobatic skills and coordination, check. Able to take some pretty punishing damage, check. Plus mind-clouding and the precognition necessary to block blaster bolts should make them incredible fighters. But it shouldn't look like all the stupid fights from the Matrix sequels. Yoda says size matters not but even he strained to move an X-Wing out of a bog. I don't see him pulling Star Destroyers out of the sky or knocking people across the room.

And I have to say, much as I love the idea of the lightsaber, I'm having trouble making it work in a pitched battle like that. It doesn't make sense. Same logic hole as in Highlander. Ok, you have to cut off a head, that's why everyone has a sword. Swords are cool. But why not pack a pistol as well? Your opponent busts out a sword, you put six rounds in his chest and cut off his head right when he comes back. There can be only one, etc.

Ok, one on one, you can argue that a Jedi with a blaster attacking a Sith with a lightsaber, one-on-one, the Jedi will keep blasting and the Sith will keep blocking. He has to close to saber range and engage with his own. That explains duels. Plus you could say there's the whole ego-stroking ritual of it, Jedi and Sith agreeing swords are more honorable and the kill all the sweeter. The Japanese managed to ban guns for a very long time and artificially preserve the whole samurai culture. But in an open battle like this, practicality has to rule. There's no way one Jedi can block bolts from a dozen guys firing at him. He's going to take the hit.

This is going to be wank.
