Thats the thing with this German team - they have lots of simply brilliant moments, and then other moments where they are absolutely terrible.

EDIT: 4-1!!!!

Speaking of diving (since I guess some people here think there should be points taken away for diving), that third German goal was the result of a blatant Wayne Rooney dive (what has that soulless ginger done in this World Cup? Remind me...) that would sorely disappoint the judges, that led to a German counterattack and a goal.

Oh, and there's goal #4 for the Krauts... fuck you England. Cling to those FIFA rankings as if it means something you boiled mean eating fuckers

It's a good thing that Lampard's "miss" (or whatever you call it) isn't looking to be determinative. Why didn't FIFA adopt the technology Adidas offered them that lets them determine whehter the ball crosses the line, or not? They've had the technology since 1990. FIFA has been testing it since 2005. In the meantime, all they have to do is allow a video replay like in every other sport. That simply shouldn't happen, at this level.

I suspect you will be banned if Dalton sees this, Bluewolf. So do me a favour and change it, I know you did not mean it.

Fuck him, Thanas. if he's still whiney and giving stupid ass one-liners, I'll report that shit by the end of the day. I won't care anymore if he's a uker and that means a cigarette or whatever else fucking shit over there. He knows better and people have been banned for it and rightly so.

Wow, either that disallowed goal really demoralized England or their defense is real shitty.

I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro's great stumbling block in his stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen's Counciler or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate, who is more devoted to "order" than to justice; who constantly says: "I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I cannot agree with your methods of direct action"; who paternalistically believes he can set the timetable for another man's freedom; who lives by a mythical concept of time and who constantly advises the Negro to wait for a "more convenient season."

Look, I admit I am a stupid 17 year old who is getting emotional over a stupid game and I am a sore loser. I am sorry. I try and work on my self control yet it is lost sometimes. If someone wants to report it, thats up to them but really, it's not as if I am trying to be aggressive towards homosexuals. It's just a shitty word usage on my part. If you feel I should be banned or VI'd, well it's up to you. Don't worry, I wont do shitty one liners anymore.

I just feel distraught.

The FIFA has always argued that referee decisions based on video feeds would somehow destroy football culture and the soul of the sport. Can´t really make any sense out of that reasoning.

I think that they experimenting with having a ref on the line for goals or something similar, but it (obviously) hasn't been adopted for the World Cup. Though I am quite sure that this (not given) goal will make it more likely to be quickly adopted.

Oh, and as for the game: Our goalie is fucking amazing.

Oh and bluewolf: How about simply using another (not so loaded) swear word?

Well Turtle, thats a fair idea but I feel like it's too late now. SDN is quite sensitive (and rightly so) so I doubt I will get through. I was previously banned for anger issues like this before. I dunno, I think I should be HOSed, and I would ask if it is best just to leave this tattered thread. I mean even a VI would be better than a ban now.

That's what video replay in many sports (basically) entails. FIFA hasn't allowed replay boards in the World Cup, though, to broadcast replays from the game (I... guess because they don't think replays are interesting or exciting for fans?), so if you're referring to the big boards visible to everyone in the stadium, that's what the "reasoning" for not using those is.

That's it. England's worst defeat in World cup history, and against an inexperienced German team.

To be fair, England got screwed with the referee's decision, who made a number of bad calls, to the benefit/detriment of both teams.

That said, the English only had a brief period of 30 minutes when they were serious contenders. For the rest of the game, they were simply outclassed, especially their defence was completely out of place and slooooow, Klose, Özil and Müller completely outran them, even when the defence had a 20m headstart.

The Guardian nails it:
FULL TIME: Germany 4-1 England. England's worst World Cup finals defeat in history is sealed. By all accounts, there was 54 seconds between Matthew Upson's goal and Frank Lampard's crazy ping over the line. Now, it was a disgraceful decision not to allow that goal, and if it was given much might have changed. But it effectively means that England played well for 54 seconds out of 90 minutes. A terrible show, and an especially pathetic defensive performance.

I actually thought Steve McManaman nailed it on ESPN's coverage: "Maybe England just aren't that good." Alexi Lalas said the same thing two weeks ago, and it's true. England think that because they "invented" football, they're the best in the world, and they just aren't.

Congrats to the Krauts. Fuck you to the Limeys. And here's to hoping there might be a first time winner in this World Cup (Spain, Portugal, Ghana, Holland, Chile... anyone but Argentina/Brazil/Germany). Hell, I'd even be satisfied with Uruguay winning for the first time in 60 years.
