Why are there NO French people on the internet?
In the entire time that I've had internet access, roughly 7 years, I have met NO french people
I've met British, Canadians, Italians, Portuguese, Spanish, Mexicans, Japanese, Autralians, New Zealanders, Chinese, Russians, South Africans, Bulgarians, Germans and Swedes.
But what the the hell gives with the French? Why aren't there that many, if any at all, on the internet?

I've known a few....but not many compared to the numbers in other countries (my ICQ list once broke 3000 so its a damn small percentage)

Your question would be more relevant to say, "Why are there no French people chatting in forums and chat rooms". And then we consult the test subjects: My wife's family, who have computers and Internet access and surf porn like the rest of us, read the news and send email and play online games. But they don't like chatting or newsgroups - the same goes with their family and my wife's friends.
I would put forward from my experience that it's a part of the French culture that a big part of communicating with people is the environment in which they do it.

I've never met a single one on-line. If you were French, would you go into a forum loaded with people from other countries? They're at the ass-end of everybody's jokes, jibes, slander, and total disdain. There are few people in the world who get teased more for their nationality. Personally I'm glad we don't have to deal with the snotty fucks.Shadow WarChief wrote:But what the the hell gives with the French? Why aren't there that many, if any at all, on the internet?
Now don't get me wrong, if a Frenchie were to join this board, I would be civil with them. I would give them a chance to be an individual. If they proved to be cool, great. If they turned out to fit the stereotype, then they could be subject to ridicule.
An old co-worker of mine had an interesting experience in Quebec. She worked there as a court reporter. She had lived in France for many years and spoke French with a perfect Parisian accent. In Quebec, she was told by someone that her accent was shitty and she couldn't speak French worth a damn.Col. LOL…I guess you Franco-Canucks don't think much of the French either, do you?

Actually, it's a mess. European French is full of English words and phrases. Quebec French is, when done right, classical because it hasn't refined itself since the 1800s (which is when Quebecers started getting pissed). However, Quebec is also now home to 'hillbilly French', which is kind of like The Chipmunks Do Paris, and in which hockey terms are used as frequent swear words and English phrases have been mangled into a French version of themselves.Captain Kruger wrote:An old co-worker of mine had an interesting experience in Quebec. I would say more church words than hockey words and for the hillbilly french they come from the saguenay lac St Jean region and the word they use to describe themselves is bleuets.Lagmonster wrote:Actually, it's a mess. I don't know, they're probably too busy eating cheese and surrendering to use base things like the Internet.Shadow WarChief wrote:In the entire time that I've had internet access, roughly 7 years, I have met NO french people

This is in jest, of course.

I haven't encountered all that many frogs online either. They probably stick to French-speaking sites and ignore international/english sites out of national pride.
