What XBox 360 games should I get?
For my birthday I recieved a 360, and I have since been wondering what games I should get. As of now I own Gears of War 2 (I am not buying the third one because Karen "Mandowanker" Traviss is writing it) and Halo 3 (Best game of all time.) I'm going to be going into London tomorrow so I was wondering what games I should purchase when I go (I'm definately purchasing Halo Reach when it comes out, and I plan on picking up Arkham Asylum.) Mom talked me out of buying red dead redemption; was that a smart move on my part?
Can anyone recommend any titles?

Fallout 3, Assassin's Creed 1&2 and Borderlands. And Halo 3 is seriously overrated. From all accounts RDR is boring as fuck, so probably a good idea.

If you have a PC then best pick up the 9$ Fallout 3 PC version since mods add massively to any Bethesda games lifespan.

Wars is a waste of money. ODST is basically an expansion pack and probably overpriced; then again I'm not really a Halo fan.Darth Yan wrote:i have a mac. PS, Are Halo Wars and ODST worth getting, cause I've recently become a halo fan (yes I love the story).

I believe the demo is available for Halo Wars. I watched someone else play the tutorial for about 5 minutes and was not impressed, but see for yourself.Darth Yan wrote:i have a mac. PS, Are Halo Wars and ODST worth getting, cause I've recently become a halo fan (yes I love the story).
I played ODST for a few hours. I thought it was good. Maybe not $60 good, but reasonably fun.
Re: What XBox 360 games should I get?
ODST is an excellent 20$ game. If you can find it for that price pick it up. It's not a 30$-60$ game.

War for Crybertron is Modern Warfare, Halo and Gears with robots. It's pretty good fun.
Alpha protocol is the best RPG of the year to date, and should be pretty cheap too.
Bad Company 2 has interesting multi.

Saint's Row 1 & 2 (it's not necessary to play 1 before 2 since the second will give you the specifics of what happened, but they're both good games)
CoD 4: Modern Warfare (The first one, in all respects but graphics, is better than the second).
Bad Company (I can't speak for multi as I only played it offline, but the SP campaign is a lot more fun in the first one)
Brutal Legend

Brutal Legend (Pure epicness)
Bad Company 2 (great online multiplayer, a much better singleplayer than MW2, the most overrated game of all time)
Fallout 3 (it would be better on the PC with mods, but you have a mac)
Mass Effect Series
Assassins Creed 1 & 2

Re: What XBox 360 games should I get?
You can safely skip Mass Effect 1 and Assassin's Creed 1. Just go straight to #2 in both cases, because the first of both series, while good at the time, are pretty bad in retrospect. Just read a plot synopsis online or something. There might be an exception if you really want to experience the "Mass Effect Trilogy" thing with continuity between games, but as somebody who labored through ME1 to port a level 60 character to ME2, it was NOT worth it overall.
Well, to each his own I guess.
You play Gears for the writing? As of now I own Gears of War 2 (I am not buying the third one because Karen "Mandowanker" Traviss is writing it)

Good choice. I didn't love it as much as everyone else seemed to, but it was definately a high quality game and worth picking up.I plan on picking up Arkham Asylum.
Your Milage May Vary. Most folks on these here boards hated it, but I know a looot of people who can't stop gushing with praise for it. Pass on it for now because you've got a lot of other games to get through, but if you liked GTA games or can't get enough Cowboy shit, then you may love it.Mom talked me out of buying red dead redemption; was that a smart move on my part?
A scientist once gave a public lecture on astronomy. He described how the Earth orbits around the sun and how the sun, in turn, orbits around the centre of a vast collection of stars called our galaxy.
At the end of the lecture, a little old lady at the back of the room got up and said: 'What you have told us is rubbish. The world is really a flat plate supported on the back of a giant tortoise.
The scientist gave a superior smile before replying, 'What is the tortoise standing on?'
'You're very clever, young man, very clever,' said the old lady. 'But it's turtles all the way down.'

Re: What XBox 360 games should I get?
The primary reason to get ODST is dependent on whether you enjoy Halo multiplayer. I assume you do, so you should know that the multiplayer disc of ODST contains all the maps for Halo 3, so you wouldn't have to purchase and download any of the map packs.
Wait till RDR is cheaper. Right now the multi is boring as fuck and worthless. There's a bunch of stuff coming out in the fall that should improve it, like fixing that whole "spawn right next to the guy who murdered you" thing.

Re: What XBox 360 games should I get?
RDR can't have any mechanical flaws that ruin a whole element of the game; it got good reviews. Are you saying it's paid DLC to fix the basically non-existent multi?
Just Cause 2 and Tropico 3 are pretty good if you like those kinda games, and they should both be pretty cheap now.

Yes. And to add zombies. Because that's exactly what the game was missing.Stark wrote:Are you saying it's paid DLC to fix the basically non-existent multi?
PS: The zombie expansion is separate from the "fix multiplayer" dlc.
Re: What XBox 360 games should I get?
Traviss is writing the script for GoW3?
Anyways, recommendations:
Metro 2033 (Russian horror/survival/FPS set in a post apocalyptic subway system)
Bad Company (short single campaign but the humour makes up for it)
Borderlands
Far Cry 2 (yeah lots nerds hated it but it's actually pretty fun to bush bang in it)
Everything else has pretty much been covered. I'll second AP though, truly a great game with variable endings.

They've already contradicted stupid crap she wrote in the books (no female gears), so we can still hope they'll keep her on a short leash.General Schatten wrote:yup.Aaron wrote:Traviss is writing the script for GoW3?

I can add my weight to Arkham Asylum and Saint's Row 2.
I would also like to mention Soul Calibur IV, Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe, and Tekken 6.

Re: What XBox 360 games should I get?
i got arkham asylum over assassins creed 2 but i may get it later. For the record, if you're talking about joshua ortega, I actually liked his star wars tale shadows and light.

I'm going to go ahead and say that AC2 is far better. Arkham Asylum's pretty good but I find the position of the camera to be a nuisance.Darth Yan wrote:i got arkham asylum over assassins creed 2 but i may get it later. Tropico 3 is fun. Think Sim City: Dictatorship Edition, with all that entails. It is however a bit buggy at this point, nothing game-breaking but people are still waiting for a patch (and the DLC) to come out.
Battlestations Pacific is great, as a semi-arcade way of reliving the Pacific Theater. Problem is you won't find too many people online to play, though you'll have better luck on the weekends.
I will however recommend you get Assassins Creed 1, in addition to the second, but only if you can get it cheap. You can easily skip a good chunk of the boring repetitive missions and get to the meat of the story, and it's fun to play in its own right. The second is still superior (imagine, a sequel actually fixing the problems of the original, whodathunk?) and Brotherhood looks to be quite good this fall.

'Ai! ai!' wailed Legolas. 'A Balrog! A Balrog is come!'
Gimli stared with wide eyes. 'Durin's Bane!' he cried, and letting his axe fall he covered his face.
'A Balrog,' muttered Gandalf. 'Now I understand.' He faltered and leaned heavily on his staff. 'What an evil fortune! And I am already weary.'

If you're feeling lazy, the original Assassin's Creed is also available from Games on Demand on xbox live.
Re: What XBox 360 games should I get?
if you get Mass Effect 2 then you should get the first, mostly becuse you can't change the default choices Sheperd made in ME1 if you make a new charecter in ME2. if you play through ME1 then you can make the choices, instead of the default ones.
Just Cause 2 is fun, i have red dead, and its prety good. I would rent it though.
