Darth Sidious is without a doubt my favourite character in the whole Star Wars Universe though he is closely followed by Thrawn.
My question is not whether Palpatine has returned or anything like but rather would you want him to return? This question is based in the time period after Darth Krayt's death.
Also if anyone wishes to elaborate how would this return take place and what would he do next?
Would you want Palpatine reborn... again?

No. To be honest, I never liked the fact that he returned after ROTJ in the Dark Empire comics, since I think it cheapened Anakin's sacrifice.

I can see your point there but then I only really ever liked Darth Vader. Anakin is always portrayed, especially in the films, as essentially being a moody and whining alot.
Still it's a shame Vader/Anakin couldnt have returned in some way.

Since you're asking in a in-direct way, here is what I'd like to see;
At the end of the 'Darth Krayt' / Legacy era, most of the Sith are wiped out. One manages to get away.
He's visited by visions of Darth Bane and Darth Sidious, and told 'Rule of Two'. They also reveal the location of a number of Sith holocrons, including a copy of one kept by Darth Sidious from the time he killed Darth Plagious, up until his trip to Endor.
Since Darth Sidious actually took over the galaxy, and ruled it for 20 years, he becomes his 'student' (or sorts), and begins studying how Sidious rose to power, and what mistakes he made as well....
Fast Forward about 500 years. New Sith lord in the background, Jedi helping shore up a 'smarter' Republic, and the 'cycle' begins again.

I've been asked why I still follow a few of the people I know on Facebook with 'interesting political habits and view points'.
It's so when they comment on or approve of something, I know what pages to block/what not to vote for.

Re: Would you want Palpatine reborn... again?
Ewww. Palpatine being reborn was stupid the first time, really, why do it again? Sure, Palpatine was pretty badass and all, but he died. Vader sacrificed himself to end the Emperor and save his son, and the Galaxy. Bringing Palpatine back from the dead just cheapens his sacrifice. Hell, in my opinion bringing back the Sith at all during any of the Original Trilogy characters' lifetimes cheapens Vader's sacrifice and renders the whole "bring balance to the Force" prophecy completely bunk, but that doesn't stop the Expanded Universe from throwing more and more Sith at the cast... I swear to Christ, we're going to end up with wizened old, grey-bearded Luke Skywalker still fighting off Sith and Dark Jedi and shit. It's horrible.
I started work on a fanfic a fair while back, based upon a Star Wars RPG campaign I was running. It ignored most of the Post OT Expanded Universe stuff, and was set roughly one or two thousand years later. The Sith had been quiet that whole time, and one of the more rash and militaristic minded Jedi Masters had visions of the Sith returning and conquering the Galaxy, set out to put a stop to it by obtaining power by any means necessary. Hunted down a bunch of old, long-forgotten Sith Holocrons and predictably ended up becoming the threat he set out to prevent. I only wrote a few chapters of it, however, and it wasn't very good, but my players liked the idea.

Totally get that though I really enjoyed the Dark Empire series, there a lot of possible threats that don't involve the Force the most notable being the Yuuzhan Vong of course. But you could easily have Mandalorian equivalents or pretty much anything.renders the whole "bring balance to the Force" prophecy completely bunk
That said I think I would like to see Palpatine return but with character change instead of as an avatar of the dark side and being controlled he'd be the leader who envisioned a militarised and centralised government as a way to fight the Yuuzhan Vong.
So perhaps he would be the one doing this wiping, leading the Empire in Exile. Cue super weapons of unimaginable that still manage to fail. Ah well least there good in concept. At the end of the 'Darth Krayt' / Legacy era, most of the Sith are wiped out.

I wouldn't want to see either return. Guardsman said it best, Palpatine returning cheapened Anakin's sacrifice. Anakin returning just cheapens it further. Shit like that is one of the many reasons why I don't care much for the EU.Morningstar wrote:I can see your point there but then I only really ever liked Darth Vader. Re: Would you want Palpatine reborn... again?
I'd prefer it if the Sith stayed dead, at least for a long while. If they have to come back at all, have them do so a couple of thousand years after the events surrounding the six movies' time period.
What would be more interesting would be an honest-to-Cthulu schism in the Jedi Order that Luke created. You can already see the roots of it after the New Jedi Order books, between Jedi who want to work closely with the government like the old Jedi Order (Corran Horn, Kenth Hamner, etc), and those who want to do their own thing and "follow the Force". Had something like that played out instead of the mostly-dreck stuff that was the Legacy of the Force book series, I might have kept on reading.

Absolutely fucking not. He shouldn't have been 'reborn' the first time.
