Transformers 3 villain is ...

Re: Transformers 3 villain is ...
That's pretty much the role Soundwave played in RotF (and it was the best part of the movie, by far).Coalition wrote:At the end of the movie, it reveals that Shockwave embezzled funds, swapped cargo routings for industrial machinery and high-tech materials, hired terrorists to plant bombs, and redirected a cargo ship or two. The cargo ship(s) gets holes blown up, it sinks (with its cargo of robotics and materials) and the Decepticons get a new base.

So, would Soundwave side with Shockwave if it came to teaming up with a new leader, or is he more likely to keep with Megs, given his commanding of the other Decepticons to try and find him and take revenge on NEST?

for most of G1 cartoon Soundwave was viewed as Megatron's most loyal lieutenant.
the literature makes him out to be Meg's chief intelligence officer involved in both spying on the Autobots and putting down revolts among the Decepticons.
however the Animated movie was conflicted. Soundwave both saved a crippled Megaton from being left behind but still did nothing when Starscream subsequently dumped Megs to help save fuel.
of course that might have been logical thinking.

Now you've got me wanting to see Shockwave go up against Deadpool.
And I think we can forget a CGI Unicron. If anyone ever designed a computer that could render his transformation sequence to the level of detail as the other Transformers in the films without catching fire, it'd probably achieve sapience half-way through the boot sequence and demand a salary and a place in the credits.

Still wishing it was Unicron, but Shock wave is a decent consolation.

Given the script to TF2 was basically a nothing - and it shows - its amazing how much money it made. And this is from me, someone who is totally unapologetic about how much he likes the movie.
Maybe TF3, given it will have more writing time and less goofyness, will be one of the first threequels to be better than the sequel?

Think of the mirror universe Spock. Now imagine that he's not only incredibly smart, emotionless, and ruthless, but now he turns into a forty foot tall death-spewing robot who transforms into a giant laser pistol/cannon.Stofsk wrote:I don't know if you were being ironic or tongue-in-cheek, I just find it hilarious that a villain is dangerous not because of whatever superpower he has or the ability to turn into a giant gun (lol) but his logical mind.Bedlam wrote:Shockwave is a powerful Decepticon, his defining trait is his highly logical mind.Stofsk wrote:who is shockwave
He was easily one of the more competent villains in the comic series (Thunderwing being another who wasn't a complete fuck up), though not so much in the cartoon series where he constantly got his ass handed to him by the Autobots and pissed Megatron off.
I would so love to see the Combaticons get tossed in too, with everyone as separate characters until they merge into Bruticus for the grand finale. Swindle can be a humvee, Brawl is fine as a tank, Onslaught can be an MLRS, Vortex can be an AH-64 Apache, and Blast-Off can either remain a space shuttle or, maintaining the military theme, a fighter jet.

Onslaught as a SWAT truck would work also, going off his second Transformers Universe vehicle mode. If they were working as infiltrators, having Swindle and Vortex match the hunters' vehicles would be useful, as would Onslaught being a civilian vehicle. Brawl and Blast-Off would be harder to use as infiltrators, but it's only when they combine into Bruticus that they become stupid.Swindle1984 wrote:I would so love to see the Combaticons get tossed in too, with everyone as separate characters until they merge into Bruticus for the grand finale. A scientist once gave a public lecture on astronomy. He described how the Earth orbits around the sun and how the sun, in turn, orbits around the centre of a vast collection of stars called our galaxy.
At the end of the lecture, a little old lady at the back of the room got up and said: 'What you have told us is rubbish. The world is really a flat plate supported on the back of a giant tortoise.
The scientist gave a superior smile before replying, 'What is the tortoise standing on?'
'You're very clever, young man, very clever,' said the old lady. 'But it's turtles all the way down.'

Don't forget Toy Story 3!
Also, Terminator 4 was better than 3 .

Did the Constructicons get ANY screen-time as themselves, or did they just spend all their screen-time either disguised as inanimate vehicles and Devastator? The Dark wrote:Onslaught as a SWAT truck would work also, going off his second Transformers Universe vehicle mode. It'd be nice to see some of the Decepticons get some character development. Also, Starscream hasn't been nearly treacherous enough.

I'm not seeing a valid reason to see the film. I saw the second one for free and felt ripped off.
Also, why does a character being more powerful make a film better?

Plus The Dollars Trilogy isn't really a trilogy at all. Other than Eastwood's costume and gun there's no continuity at all.

Having a threatening villain is usually a good thing. Of course, 'threatening' doesn't necessarily mean 'more powerful'; Shockwave being clever could easily make up for him not having lemniscates in his toy stats.Gandalf wrote:Also, why does a character being more powerful make a film better?

It has been suggested that The Man With No Name's final film was Unforgiven too, making it more than the Dollars Trilogy.Crazedwraith wrote:Plus The Dollars Trilogy isn't really a trilogy at all. Other than Eastwood's costume and gun there's no continuity at all.

Looks like they didn't fuck Shockwave's head up at least. "The Wreckers", are they going to be with NEST or their own little team?
I'm curious about how they'll use Optimus' trailer.

Shockwave looks surprisingly cool. Soundwave reminds me of Mechagodzilla.

Hopefully this time Bay will learn to keep the camera focused on one thing at a time. The action scenes in the first movie were passably cool, but they just got plain confusing in the second. And less of the US army wanking; I want to see Decepticons ripping apart Abrams tanks and knocking F-22s out of the sky, like Starscream did in the first.

Re: Transformers 3 villain is ...
Am I the only one who found the relative competence of the military in the Transformers films refreshing? People have bitched about incompetent militaries getting their asses handed to them since the dawn of time, but go the other way and you prove that, on the internet, it's a no-win situation. Granted, some of the best scenes were Starscream ripping into the Raptors, but the attempt to copy the scene in the sequel with the Raptors flying straight into the giant cloud of rocks was flat-out retarded.
