Well, you can still try "Space Rangers 2:Reboot" for a certain kind of RPG. It can't captivate you with graphics or plot, but is a very interesting Elite-like sandbox.

Don't stop playing it. Its biggest flaw is that it's so dense once you're out of it its very hard to get back in. I've never finished it and I've started it half a dozen times.

Is anyone brave enough to recommend NWN2, an TBS/RPG?

Guys, RPG is a definition of play goal (play a role), and RTS is a definition of play system (not turn based). ME2 is by Griffos definitions an RTS/RPG, but that definition tells us nothing about the game and is thus useless. Overemphasis on genre is as stupid and useless in games as it is in music. Even in Grifs stupid world a game where you level up your zerglings has 'RPG elements'.

Have to second Alpha Protocol; fight against Konstantin Brayko alone is worth it. Made me search for my old GTA:Vice City CD. :P

Hmm, now that I have bought it off Steam, I think I should've bought a hard copy on eBay instead. It says it'll take ~16GB of space instead of the 8.5GB free space it said I'd need on the page and it'll take about 9 hours to download...

Good thing I deleted a whole bunch of stuff.

I'd have to argue against calling NWN a TBS. It's a CRPG in its most classic form. All mechanics are equivalent to their PnP RPG counterparts. TBT, turn-based tactics, are a natural part of the RPG process. XCOM could make a great RPG if there was a central character to play as.

And yes, levelling up zerglings can be rightfully considered "elements", albeit these would be the least important elements of an RPG.

Also, where's the RTS in Mass Effect?

I played Oblivian and I don't think I could play Morrowind again. Oblivian may be horribly flawed and need to use mods to be playable, but the fact that you don't spend 90% of the time walking around and can use the map to find where you are going makes invaluable. I quit my first game of Morrowind because I literally could not find the spot on the map the quest needed me to go.
Just use the coc cheat to teleport. Or set superjump and fly around.
You lost the game.

It's old but still worth a look if you don't have it, Arcanum, which is on GOG.com.

Personally, I'd highly recommend "Mount & Blade - Warband". It's a cool sandbox PC game I've been a little obsessed with of late. It has good action, RPG and strategy elements (but don't ask me to "classify" it, especially not on THIS thread  ).

Just tried the demo today and it does have a Fallout feel to it but it seems clunky.

Ah, I tried Mount and Blade too and it is one of those games that makes me nauseous.

I have been playing the Witcher for 15 hours according to Steam and it's been pretty fun so far. Dice poker is great to play. :)

It's worth persevering with Arcanum, especially as its only $6 on GOG.

I had the same reaction. Its basically an indy RPG, with a rigid uninteresting plot, clumsy mechanics and poor combat.

Once you learn the trick to dice in Witcher, you have infinite money. Kind of a shame, really. :)
