DS vs SW
okay, heres the deal. this is kinda long but i think this could be fun
DS1 falls through a wormhole and winds up in the middle of the AQ at the time when the ST galaxy is at its strongest (someone will need to help me out as to when that is... my knowledge of trek is only so good). Somehow or another the hyperdrive on the DS is damaged and unfixable, so for all intensive purposes, the DS has only SL drives. Also, shield generators have somehow been damaged, so shields can only charge to a maximum of 50%, hence shielding is at 50% of normal strength, and no, the generators cannot be fixed either. The DS though of course has its full compliment of fighters but instead of landing craft etc all docking space has been remodeled and filled with an assortment of basic TIE's, bombers, Defenders, Gunboats, etc. So basically what we have here is a DS1 and a whole shitload of small craft. oh yea and btw, the reactor holes have been fixed and the DS can NOT be killed the same was as it was by the Rebels in epIV. no tricks, the DS must be killed by brute strength.
my question is, how many inhabited Trek planets get destroyed before the DS is destroyed? or is it never? does the DS just wallow along at sublight pace, killing every ship in sight and slowly destroy every Trek planet? or do perhaps the feddies get smart, contact all the other races of the galaxy, and perhaps try and gather forces to ambush the DS somewhere? and even if they do, can they kill the massive DS?
or is the ST galaxy royally fucked? i leave it to you...

Depends on where the wormhole drops the DS1. There's a chance the answer is "The crew of the Death Star all dies of old age before it gets to a Federation planet". Not to mention you've effectively put the DS1 in a situation where it's going to be putting an ENORMOUS strain on its sublight drives with no way of repairing them when they inevitably break down. Also, what sort of fuel source does the DS1 need, and is it available in the ST universe?
OTOH, if the wormhole drops the DS1 in the Sol system, the Federation is completely screwed because it could simply blow away Earth and kill the entire political leadership and most of Starfleet's top officers. On the other hand, the latter might be an advantage...

hmm... okay, well i was trying to limit the DS so that it could easily be ambushed by whatever the Trek galaxy could throw at it, but okay how about the hyperdrive is damaged to the point where it travels at a medium-speed warp (trek-wise of course) ?

Its surface is covered with enough turbolasers to slag pretty much everything any power in Trek can muster in moments......not even mentioning the firepower of its fighters (which have firepower closer to cap ships of the Federation) or its primary weapon.....meNNis wrote:hmm... okay, well i was trying to limit the DS so that it could easily be ambushed by whatever the Trek galaxy could throw at it, but okay how about the hyperdrive is damaged to the point where it travels at a medium-speed warp (trek-wise of course) ?

Even at 50% shields, the DS is still strong enough to deflect anything the
Feds can throw at it. The DS didn't even get a scratch from the exploding mass of Alderaan.

And the Federation dies in a few months, quickly followed by all the other races. I would like to thank Tarkin for his mercy in getting rid of the post-Voyger crap that has been made.

The DS1 must require a SHITLOAD of fuel and food and water to keep itself running. Chances are in the SW universe it recieves supplies in titanic bulk-shipping through humongous convoys. In the ST universe they'd have to go down to a planet and probably steal their food and water. As far as I know there isn't anything the DS can do about fuel, which they will be constantley using to get from point A to point B of their conquest of the AQ.
Even with warp 6 or so capapbilities it'll take take days to reach the nearset star system (assuming were not Voyager distance away). They'd slag a few planets, the Feds might rally their forces in a futile assault. After they're defeated they'd probably run away until the DS exhausts itself.

That would be way cool. The DS gets sucked through the wormhole and all the crew are dead, in the same way that people died by going thourh a wormhole in Farscape. The ensuing fight would be increadible.

Re: DS vs SW
Number of planets killed. Zero. At sublight speeds, it would take the Death Star anywhere from years to centuries to travel from starsystem to starsystem. Their best hope would be to transform the Death Star into a gigantic orbital habitat.meNNis wrote:okay, heres the deal. this is kinda long but i think this could be fun

They may just do that, but that doesn't mean that they wouldn't study the technology.darthdavid wrote:Imagine, some bullshit feddie officer takes over and says "this station is an abomination against all that we stand for" and self destructs the ds. What a pitty. Or one of the races with a brain takes over and blows the federation outta the water.

Just a though...some of you have been talking about it using fuel for itself. I though I read somewhere that the central reactor was fully self-suffcient and powered most of the systems aboard the DS. Please correct if I'm wrong. ( Which I probably am.)

However if it's fully stocked then it's a case of flying to a feddie world, sending down a couple assault craft and liberate some replicators or at worst, steal all their food supplies...

would that supply them long enough to get to the next world? when would they die of old age?
I can just imagine the feddies seeing this huge, invincible slug, approach it's planets once every couple a decades or so. you cant fight it. you just have to run.
going into orbit would almost be mandatory. hello, this planet is mine now.
