RIP, Dolly. Glad you didn't end up in the mutton section at the supermarket. Are they going to save her body for a museum?

It really is sad. Dolly was kinda a cut looking sheep. Especially with the shots of her trying to jump up and look out her pen, kinda like an explorer in a new universe. She pioneered something that is, to say the least, amazing. At the same time she had to endure hardships because of what she is.

A tribute to Dolly for her contributation to science. May she rest in peace.

Yes, Dolly will be remembered for what she signaled the begining of. Can't wait for the people that'll come and say "It was a god damn sheep!".

Although, it did raise the question in my mind of whether or not the 'chronic lung disease' was something genetic resulting from the fact that she was a clone.

I was wondering: what exactly is the point of cloning? To grow custom organs and limbs for people who need them, and/or giving infertile couples and gays another option for reproduction? I can't see any other reasons for it other than those.

(Excluding the Raelian's beliefs on eternal life through it.)

That is a good question. I'm not sure the reasons myself.

It may have had something to do with tthe fact that while Dolly was physically younger than the template, genetically, she was the same age as the template. Her DNA was unravelling at a steady rate, and she also had however many years the template was alive on top of that.

I hope I'm not the only one to realize the incredibaly amusing irony of man putting a sheep to sleep.....
Devolution is quite as natural as evolution, and may be just as pleasing, or even a good deal more pleasing, to God. If the average man is made in God's image, then a man such as Beethoven or Aristotle is plainly superior to God, and so God may be jealous of him, and eager to see his superiority perish with his bodily frame.
