In other Israeli related news, one of the Arab-Israeli members of Knesset was on the convoy where the nine Turkish citizens were killed by IDF. The rest of the Knesset just stripped him of his diplomatic passport and he is barred from traveling abroad under a parliamentary order.

Yeah. About that. First of all, Hanin Zoabi is a woman. Secondly, while the Knesset has certainly behaved disgracefully towards her(Anastasi Michaeli, a Likud MK, attempted to physically block Zoabi from the podium when she came to speak in the day after the flotilla), I cannot really see the issue with a revocation of her privileges. Whatever you may think of the blockade, Ms Zoabi is a member of the Israeli Goverment, and as such, has a duty to, you know, not attempt to run blockades enacted by said goverment. As I recall, she actually used her diplomatic immunity as an MK to help the flotilla along. Regardless of ethical justification for her actions(which is a different matter), she certainly abused the trust of the State by doing this, and as such should be legally barred from the Knesset.

C'mon, if a US Senator attempted to run a blockade into Cuba, would anyone have a problem with him being stripped of his status? I wouldn't.

I'm also going to go out on a limb here and say she damaged her constituents(she belongs to Balad, an Israeli-Arab party), who have enough problems with being percieved as fifth column agents for the Palestinians.

However, the feeling was mutual, and most Jewish boys chose to date non-Jewish girls as well. I really couldn't explain why.

I can tell you why if they are anything like the Jewish girls I grew up with and that's because their parents really don't approve of them dating non-Jewish guys, and possibly are sick of their parents trying to fix them up with Jewish guys who are available (any Jewish guy that's available), so they rebel by dating the goyim. That was alot of the girls in high school at any rate.

Sorry for the necro, but there seems to have been a new twist to the case - according to a recently published expose, the "rape by deception" charges were in fact the result of a plea bargain pleading down from rape - according to the woman, the sex was non-consensual (the linked article is in Hebrew, but a reasonably accurate translation can be found here). Journalist Lisa Goldman's blog has some further commentary on the issue
