Well hell, if I had an IQ of 250 I guess my mind would qualify as a deadly weapon. Since I could think up of even more and more efficient ways to kill people. Guess we should register all geniuses too.

nah, it's only racism if the registration is used to discriminate, or in worst case, to annhilate. that is not what is said in the option in the poll - just registration, like the registration of anything that can lead to death quickly.

So let me get this straight. All of the push for the Mutant Registration Act has been about how dangerous mutants are. How deadly and how they can hide among normal humans and how they are a potential threat worse than anything else. And you're saying that it wouldn't be used to discriminate or worse?

-cocks head- I dont watch xmen. I dont read xmen. I dont know the speeches about registration.

but as applied to keeping tabs on potential danger, I agree with it. as a tool of discrimination, I do not.

Please get a fucking clue.
TheDark wrote:Also (according to my sensei), anyone with ANY belt other than the lowest within their art can be charged with aggravated battery if they get into a fight, rather than simple battery. Really? Shit, I hold two belts in two martial arts, although I was pretty sure that a blue belt (my rank in Kyu-Ki-Do) was high enough to qualify as being legally armed, but not necessarily with a deadly weapon; though I do know three ways to kill someone.

This could be a sort of compromise. Just as not every martial artist is of equal skill, not every mutant would be of equal threat. We could just make the more powerful mutants register as possessors of deadly weapons, while increasing the charges against less powerful mutants if they use their powers maliciously. That would be acceptable to me.

How would you test that? Let's say I could shot energy balls out of my hands. Do you think I would show the government the full extent of my powers? Especially with that douchebag Kelly telling people how dangerous I am.

Since when have people been required to register guns that they own? I own several guns and none of them are registered, because it is not required by law. Registering mutants or any other type of demographic for that matter would not only be discrimination, but very much like Germany was with Jews in WWII.

Case-by-case basis, and teach them to control their powers.

Have them register, but have the records kept secret. No one can go looking through them without a warrant (And not one of those bullshit warrants that get awarded nowadays. I mean a GOOD warrant)

And are you serious about having to register as having a deadly weapon if you're a black belt? I got mine in Tang Soo Do, still haven't done it yet...

I would be against registration of mutants except for cases where the person involved had broken the law or injured someone.

As for registering for being a black belt I'd check with the people you trained under if possible. If registering is a serious law where you are I would think they'd have to know about it, perhaps even to stay in business.

Personally I am more inclined to think that you should be more worried about the upgrade in charges if you seriously kick the shit out of someone. That sounds logical since being trained as you are you shouldn't feel quite as threatened if attacked plus you have a better understanding of your own capabilites than the average person.

So, what I think is being said is this: no registration, but you guys would prefer that there be some sort of Assault With A Deadly Power made a crime?

I would think that using a power to commit a crime is already illegal, because the act is a crime.

Mutant registration may work, but given the sheer enourmous variety(and the inclination if I can destroy Manhatten with a stray thought why should I follow any law except what I dictate) is the hardest thing.

On the low end scale there's Doug Ramsey...he can translate...that's right, that's his power...hell he may never really know it's a power and he's some savant. Same with Forge.

Then on the other scale we have Apoc and Mags. Being I don't really think give a shit if you send 1-1000 sentinels, because they going to return them to you in a scrap heap.

That right there is the real problem...if said being is the type you want to have registered his/her power only a few of the lower end dealies will.

Some of the others...would rip your head of and make Washington into a giant grave for demanding them to be subjectated to something lower.

That's what you use your government run mutant teams for

Besides, send in stronger sentinels the next time.....made of composites,
preferably, and heavily shielded electronics...

Oh that's right, the Mutant Teams have character shields, while the sentinels don't.....
