Rockstar Games Reams The Daily Star in Court

Post by 2000AD »

The Daily Star jumped on an obviously fake GTA cover image and made a whole story out of the next GTA game supposably being based on the recent mad gunman Raoul Mote up in the North of England, even going as far as telling grieving family members there would be a game, book and film deal tie-in to get outraged reaction quotes.

Only a few days later and Rockstar have taken them to court and bitchslapped them royally enough to put up this snivelling apology and give them a "substantial amount in damages" which in a class act Rockstar are donating to charity.

It's nice to know that sometimes there is justice in the world.

To bad the shitbird that wrote the article didn't catch any shit for it. In fact, if you look through the related articles in the links you gave, the man seems to be going out of his way to prove he's in dire need of a severe ass-tuning.

To punish the shitbird who wrote this piece of crap would also mean the need to punish the editor who approved and published that crap. And that would probably be someone a bit higher, like the assistant editor in chief. And the idiots who are a little bit higher than the typical journalist rabble in the editorial offices like to protect their own assess.

Plus there's always the "this was legitimate info from a good source!" defense.

In my ideal society we'd just take the lot of them out back of the tool shed and beat them with a length of garden hose until they stopped moving or understood why what they did was wrong, whichever came first.

I don't see how that is a 'sniveling apology'. It is actually very comprehensive in regards to how egregious The Daily Star was with it's myriad of errors on reporting the story.

If they didn't go so far they could have gotten away with calling it satire.

Christ, I know the Daily Star makes the Sun look like War and Peace, but this is a new low even for them.

Slightly pointless to be honest, without buying the actual paper to confirm (ugh) I've no doubt the actual "apology" would be published at the bottom of some advert heavy page in the middle which no one will see.

The damage will still be done and no one will learn that you should never believe what is written in the gutter press.
