A decision must be made in the life of every nation at the very moment when the grasp of the enemy is at its throat. Then, it seems that the only way to survive is to use the means of the enemy, to rest survival upon what is expedient, to look the other way. Well, the answer to that is 'survival as what'? A country isn't a rock. It's not an extension of one's self. It's what it stands for. It's what it stands for when standing for something is the most difficult! - Chief Judge Haywood

They did the same in WoW, I can only assume to keep costs down. They changed Arthas for fuck's sake...In the first trailers Raynor also got a different voice but apparently they caved under nerd rage.
Personally I don't understand how they got the impression they need to "upgrade" the voice actors, the original voiceactor did a perfectly good job. It's not as if this is Hamlet or something.
Apparently Kerrigan is now voiced by Tricia Helfer who is...Number Six from nBSG!! Whop-de-do who gives a fuck. She actually does a worse job in that trailer than original voiceactor in the mission.
Is it me or are Blizz showing less originality than usual here? There's a prince. He's blonde. He has a big draped cloak and shoulderpads. He has dark stubble. He's voiced similarly to Arthas in Warcraft 3. Urgh. The resemblance is striking.

I suppose it's too late to hope that the beta and all the media coverage of it has been a giant attempt to troll Korea, and Starcraft 2 is actually a modern RTS?

ok, got the game and JESUS CHRIST!
A 12 gig install? I never thought the game would be that huge from the screenshots. How much space do those CGI movies take up?

When was the last time you bought a modern game? 12gb isn't really that bad; something like GTA 4 can take up to 18gb or more. DoW 2 with Chaos Rising takes around 6 or 7.Darksider wrote:ok, got the game and JESUS CHRIST!

Re: Starcraft 2 cinematic trailer
Attended the Aussie midnight release, installed it and have been playing it since.
Clocked the game about an hour ago... about 23 hours of gameplay all up including breaks for showering, eating and the odd power nap as well as the odd conversation that didn't involve my computer screen.
Had fun. I'll give it a more thorough going over when I've had a chance to actually sleep as I'm nodding off as I type.

Re: Starcraft 2 cinematic trailer
That's true. I don't really buy too many PC games anymore since my hardware is on the verge of being obsolete. (and also because there aren't that many good PC exclusives anymore) I think the last "modern" PC game I bought was Crysis, and I remember being shocked at that being a ten gig install too. Hell, isn't Warhead like fifteen or something?General Zod wrote:When was the last time you bought a modern game? 12gb isn't really that bad; something like GTA 4 can take up to 18gb or more. Re: Starcraft 2 cinematic trailer
No idea. Then again if you have a PC that's not shit you should have at least a 500gb hard disk. If 12 gb is a concern then I have to question what you're doing buying the game to begin with.Darksider wrote:That's true. Re: Starcraft 2 cinematic trailer
My PC is aging and I can easily afford the space to keep my 19 gig WoW install on my PC even though I'm not sure when I'll be going back to it. 15 gigs for SCII is nothing at all these days.
School requires more work than I remember it taking...

Re: Starcraft 2 cinematic trailer
Your typical gaming laptop has at least 250gb. If he's not on a gaming laptop I'd still have to question why he's buying SC2 in the first place.Thanas wrote:He might have a laptop, laptop HDDs are very small in comparison to PC HDDs.General Zod wrote:No idea. Because it has very little in the way of system requirements? If he's not on a gaming laptop I'd still have to question why he's buying SC2 in the first place.

Re: Starcraft 2 cinematic trailer
Which begs the question of why would anyone who's read the system requirements be surprised at the space required when they go to install it? And how come they're buying the game without reading the requirements?Thanas wrote: Because it has very little in the way of system requirements?

Because it's Starcraft 2?

I'm not sure being a victim of marketing/herd mentality is really a strong defence here.
Re: Starcraft 2 cinematic trailer
I'm shocked the major gaming sites haven't rolled out their mindless 10/10 reviews for the game yet. So, it any good?
Not that it'll persuade me to buy it. I'm not paying $60 for a computer game, regardless of what it is.

Hey, you're right. Ha!
I dig the 'Korean players can play Starcraft 2 as long as their WoW subscription is up' thing, though.
