Because The prophecy doesn't mean V will die, and because 'not have a happy ending =/= must die' either. V could easily survive and not have a happy ending simply because he's utterly failed at relationships and has no change of salvaging his marriage.

For some reason I find it gosh-darned funny that the two clerics are just talking shop even though they should be enemies. :D

Naturally, it may be used by evil men for evil purposes, but there are more good men than evil, and while the latter cannot be persuaded to the path of righteousness by propaganda, they can certainly be corrected by good men with rifles."

LOL, that is one of the better ones. Has nothing to do with the plot, but I do love the problems that it does say of D&D and the whole "So your pantheon reveres goats...eh?" problem. Just a fun read until we get back to whoever trips over the plot this time.

Well... it did answer the question of "Who was on the Altar".

"Really bring out that hearty flavor", heh.
"There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old's life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs." - John Rogers

Heh, the detail in the final panel really sells it. That was great.

Maybe it's fond memories of strict librarians in my old school, but I found the throwaway "Dewey decimal system strictly enforced" sign the funniest part.

Although, the whole social networking via magical Internet is also damn funny. The detail on that magical "webpage" really does sell it.

Yeah, same here - especially since, as the Empire of Blood, and a generally not-nice place, you've got to wonder what, exactly, 'strictly enforced' consists of, and whether the text being red has any ...significance.

Seems Durkon's sticking to the lawful part of his alignment...

Tarquin's probably going to resist springing Roy and Belkar for similar reasons.

Then again, he thinks they've been "thrown in jail". His attitude may change a bit when he finds out that they were sent to the arena instead.

"In honour of Genral Tarquins son"

Priceless.
So I stare wistfully at the Lightning for a couple of minutes. Two missiles, sharply raked razor-thin wings, a huge, pregnant belly full of fuel, and the two screamingly powerful engines that once rammed it from a cold start to a thousand miles per hour in under a minute. Life would be so much easier if our adverseries could be dealt with by supersonic death on wings - but alas, Human resources aren't so easily defeated.

And it's becoming more and more evident what's really going on with the Empire of Blood.

Tarquin and his albino-lizard buddy are running it. They've alway's been the ones running the various Empire's they've 'helped out' with.

Set someone else up to take the fall, retreat to safety, and then figure out what went wrong this time.

And they finally, finally, got an Empire with a figure head no one in their right mind is going to try to overthrow. A massive Red Dragon.

They keep the Dragon well feed and happy (which doesn't seem to be a problem), and they get to run their Empire. They get all the perks, none of the risks really.

Face it, the Empress of Blood is the ultimate buffer in this case. She's a freaking dragon, backed by a few high level adventurers. No mercanary army is going to attempt to take her on. Hell, odds are, anyone that tried to raise an army to try to take over the Empire of blood would find themselves rapidly turned over by perspective recruits.

There is also the fact they know Draketooth. With everyone knowning that the Empire of Blood is run by a massive red dragon, it would be very easy someone to conquer an illusion of a Red Dragon to defeat an enemy army with. After all, they know they have a red dragon, so who's going to suspect an illusion?
I've been asked why I still follow a few of the people I know on Facebook with 'interesting political habits and view points'.

It's so when they comment on or approve of something, I know what pages to block/what not to vote for.

Indications of sinister machinations aside, it seems Elan and Haley have inadvertently created groan-worthy new euphemisms which will likely end up spreading throughout the entirety of the Empire of Blood... and likely the official OOTS forums. So I groan in advance.

At this point, there's not too much for me to say except that I really hope the deal with Elan's dad turns out amicably. He seems to be setting up a stable government, at least.

You know, ordinarily when a party member converts to the same deity as the party cleric, the cleric is happier about it.
My money for Malak has got to be either vampire or...completely legitimate. It's perfectly reasonable that an albino lizardman with a delicate constitution might require some specialized diet.

Oh, hell, who am I kidding? Tarquin and Malak are totally going to flip out and try to kill the party, I'm just hoping they turn out to be as friendly as they seem. It'd be nice to let Durkon have a friend.

He obviously eats babies. What else could it be really?

Have to hide the baby eating, it's unsettling for most folks.

The question is, babies of what variety?
