Damn, I don't remember. I'll retract it unless someone posts Jefferson's budget.
I know that Jefferson liked to write about good french wines, but I have never heard of that being the reason he was in debt. From what I heard, he had a lot of problems with his land not producing enough yield (and this also being the reason why he could not sell his slaves - they were essentially mortgaged to his creditors until he paid the debt).
Nevermind that Jefferson served his country at a time when it was par the course that somebody doing that would have to pay the costs out of his own pocket.

A decision must be made in the life of every nation at the very moment when the grasp of the enemy is at its throat. Then, it seems that the only way to survive is to use the means of the enemy, to rest survival upon what is expedient, to look the other way. Well, the answer to that is 'survival as what'? A country isn't a rock. It's not an extension of one's self. It's what it stands for. It's what it stands for when standing for something is the most difficult! - Chief Judge Haywood

Prove it.
Do we really have to dig up all those photos of racist billboards again? Wasn't a leader of a Tea Party group found to be a racist douche?
How many times do these people have to call Obama an Indonesian Muslim or say other racist shit before people admit there is a tinge of outright racism in these groups?
Ummm we probably do because the Tea party EXPRESS is totally different from the Tea party, because the Tea party says so. Now. Back during the signs and billboards it was one big happy family until the proverbial drunken cousin showed his penis, now everyone's pretending they've never met him.
I wonder if anyone asks the actor how much federal funding they get to maintain the area and pay the actors. Would they FREAK if they found out the Government was footing a large chunk of the bill? It'd probably be some kind of conspiracy at work.

Now what you should ask the reenactors is something like, "What kind of taxes do you pay, Mr. Washington?" "What do those taxes go towards?" "Is the House of Burgess maintained by government taxes?" "What about the public roads and common areas?" "Who funds the army?"

My understanding is that he donated(sold) his Library to Congress after the War of 1812 specifically to get OUT OF Debt. I also recall the folks at Monticello relating that Jefferson *only* drank wine. When he was doing well it was fine French Wines, when he wasn't it was cheapo peach wine from North Carolina.
"The rifle itself has no moral stature, since it has no will of its own. Naturally, it may be used by evil men for evil purposes, but there are more good men than evil, and while the latter cannot be persuaded to the path of righteousness by propaganda, they can certainly be corrected by good men with rifles."
