I don't know if it counts but Field Artillery has an MOS for meteorologists called Field Artillery Meteorological Crewmember or 13W.

But that one's probably easier to spin than "Miso"... "13W: because we're so fucking awesome, we need fucking weathermen to help guide our shots!"

They aren't meteorologists. They don't try to forecast the weather. They just attempt to determine the state of the atmosphere. The army has no meteorologists.

Yeah but only because the Air Corps stole the job from the Signal corps before WW2, then became its own independent service later. Thieving bastards.

And, of course, it does show the stuff I was talking about (strong tradition) at work here.
Prince Andrew was a Helo Pilot during the Falklands, and he sure as shit was in more danger than Prince Harry ever was.

Isn't he further down the line of succession though?

The Falklands War occurred while Princess Di was pregnant with Prince William, so that would make Prince Andrew either second or third in line for the throne at the time of the war (he is currently fourth in line) which is not much further down the line than Prince Harry (if at all - I'm not sure how succession is counted during pregnancies).

How on earth do you reach that conclusion when Prince Andrew he was assigned to HMS Invincible flying an ASW chopper; and that part of the British task force only came under attack once in the entire war by a single missile? Prince Harry meanwhile served in as a forward air controller and got into actual battles on the ground. Not to mention the simple endless risk of mines/IEDs and ambushes you have anytime you are in Afghanistan, which is easily in excess of the main risk to an ASW chopper which is simply crashing in an accident.

Then you fail because the British have had more men killed in Afghanistan then the Falklands, never mind the actual reality of wars which place combat deaths disproportional heavy on certain kinds of units. ASW choppers sure as shit aren't one of them, infantry and reconnaissance units are.

Wow, would you care to rethink that statement? Think of the span of time we're talking in both, Prince Andrew pulling "missile decoy" duty, etc.

How about no, maybe you should know what you are talking about first. Missile decoy was a zero risk job, or at least certainly far safer then staying on the carrier deck aside from the ever present risk of crashing at sea which has nothing to do with combat. Nor is Afghanistan safe from it either when many men have drown in mountain creeks after AFV rollovers. The Exocet missile was incapable of raising its flight altitude to attack an airborne target. It would fly right under the chopper every time, which the British damn well knew having access to full technical details of the Exocet as well as using the missile themselves. That’s why they were perfectly happy to employ that tactic. A chopper at 100ft dangling a radar decoy was simply never going to be hit. As for 'ect', he simply never flew any of the combat missions that would have placed his aircraft in the face of credible enemy fire. So what the fuck about it?

Meanwhile Prince Harry personally fought the damn Taliban with machine guns while they attacked his outpost with small arms and RPGs. Big fucking difference don’t you think?

No reason exists to consider the time span of the war if you do not also consider the danger of specific jobs, not to mention the British deploying in Afghanistan being smaller in manpower terms. You've got one guy who was shot at for real by numerous weapons and lived with constant risks of sudden attack and mine threats basically nothing could be done about, one guy who was possibly or not in the air and thus safer against a single missile that was never actually aimed at his ship.
