That said, unlike the newest Ace Combat, I seriously doubt that Mikami and his crew actually sat down and decided on having the Russians invading America for anything other than laughs. I mean, it's not as hammy as Metal Wolf Chaos, but it seems fairly obviously squared away in that 'parody of Americans' area of Japanese media.

That said, i find the "America is invaded by Russians/Chinese/North Koreans/other Eastern Eurasian baddies" is a way overdone. Why not have an FPS set in the heat of an American Civil War, in which a Theocratic Racist group of Fascists in all but name and imagery seize control of the Southeastern states after conservatives bring about a second great depression, where you play as either a Northern Infantryman who is acting as a commando for in a campaign to Liberate California from these bastards or an Eurocorps soldier fighting up through Florida.
