Since their mobility is poor (god knows hwo far they can fall without risking leg damage) and the ISD has literally thousands of AT missiles, war robots, ewebs, etc, its amusing to imagine them tearing nto coolant systems (and being blown into space/melted), fusing their shit with unknown chemicals or forms of energy, setting themselves on fire, ending up in an escape ship and fired into space, accidentally entering a cargo bay and being blasted, etc.

My preferred scenario invovles them getting stuck, trying to tear through a wall, and having the stormies on the other side blow it in with explosives and kick the shit out of them with PLX and ewebs from Space Technicals and then just running away to repeat later.

Brother-Captain Gaius wrote:Well, the mission objective in the traditional 'Space Hulk' scenario is to secure it as intact as possible, sans genestealers, hence tearing through the walls isn't part of the mission. If the mission is 'wreck some shit up' then that restriction is a non-issue.
Are you seriously saying that when sent on a suicide mission to die in a horde of genestealers they don't use tactical mobility because the wall is a mission objective?

And here I thought 40k was ALREADY stupid enough. SACRED WALL PROTECT US AS WE DIE CORNERED LIKE RATS NEVER SHALL WE HARM THEE ARGH I AM DEAD

Then again what do you expect from the same people who use chainswords?

I really can't argue with that.

I'd point out that if the scenario is capturing a crippled ISD they shouldn't be tearing through walls either, but ... consistency not a 40k virtue... :)

Is there a standard 10-man loadout for terminators? I thought they operated in 4-man squads? What weapons do they have?

In the boardgame you can load them up into 10 man squads, and then you can pick 2 pieces of wargear, Which is an Assault cannon (Gatling gun), Missile launcher, Or heavy flamer. Pick any 2.

Personally i'd take the Assault cannon and the flamer, for dealing with massed enemies. Anything which that and bolters can't take down is probably going to be able to be damaged by power fists.

I'm not sure, i'd assume the Imperium would be smart and teleport ammunition into several areas of the ship, but as I said, chainswords.

Edit: I means as the Terminators progress, so they could call for ammo, But I've no proof of the ability to do this, although it is possible with the technology they have the Imperium isn't known for its brains.

Don't the teleporters need beacons at both ends? I guess they could teleport to the terminator beacons. God knows how you reload an assault cannon with a chainfist. :D

Does the Imperium negotiate surrenders? The easiest victory here might be to use the terminators as a chip in ongoing surrender negotiations; the ISD might surrender before they work out countermeasures.

Imperium? Surrender? NEVER! But yeah, a beacon isn't needed but it helps, as teleportation without a beacon breaks physics by teleporting objects into walls as its not that accurate.

I meant the Imperium negotiate a surrender of the ISD to the Imperium; if they're crippled, surrounded, and there are small tanks walking around inside, that might work.

Oh, They might if there one of the more easygoing Imperial people. If you've got Certain incredibly devoted people then no, no surrender.

Either that or just send More termies into a meat grinder.
But yeah, probably try about twice more then just blow it up.

Isn't Terminator armor extremely rare and valuable? IIRC Space Marine Chapters have dispatched squads to retrieve equipment before. After loosing two squads of Termies aboard the ISD they might switch to standard marines + Apothecaries to recover Equipment and geenseed and only destroy the ship once that's done.
And this is why you don't watch anything produced by Ronald D. Moore after he had his brain surgically removed and replaced with a bag of elephant semen.-Gramzamber, on why Caprica sucks

Yes, a Chapter often only has enough for the First Company.

How...is...that...even...possible? Yeah, I know 40k isn't exactly a setting that pays much attention to scientific reality, but when you're violating not only gravity but common sense...

Dude, its power armour. ;)

Seriously it doesn't pay to put to much thought into 40K's science.

No it can't.

OH WAIT MY LEGS CLIPPED INTO MY KNEES AND I WAS CRIPPLED.

We all know what Terminators look like.

Frankly if they jump blowing holes in the ground is just going to be even more effective.

Another thought.

If the Captain of the ship has some smarts, it might be an idea for him to scramble the Stormtrooper Legions Spacetrooper Platoon. Get them up to the fight, then cut gravity in those sectors. The spacetroopers equipment should let them fight on equal grounds in terms of firepower/armor, and they are Zero-G specalists, trained for this exact work. Their suits will probably also let them move more freely and Zero-G.

In the Deathwing expansion for Space Hulk they introduced multiple levels and there was a chance a termi would fall through to the lower level (gibbing any unfortunate beneath).

But all this means really is that White Terminators cant jump! :D

As for the OP, Terminators are the shock troops of a 1000 man unit of shock troops. Terminators teleport in, do their thing and teleport out. Or if there's a reson why they can't teleport; they cannot scan or scry the area, too much radiation (like a hypermatter reactor), too much psychic crapola in the area (main reason for infested space hulks) then then they use boarding torpedoes, burn through the outer hull to wherever they're going, do their thing and then leave via boarding torp.

Terminators end up crawling through space-hulks because they're huge and it can be a long way from entry point to mission objective (with nasty passengers). A SD isn't that big.

If the Termis stick to their orders and don't get any funny ideas or are given any by some idiot Inquisitor then they'll probably get the job done. The key is doing their thing before the stormies can bring up enough numbers and support weapons.

As for the ISD the main priority is to get away. With 3 metre tall battlesuits tearing shit up the destination need not be more complicated than 'away'. However (as demonstrated in ANH) even 'away' takes time to set up. In the meantime closing all the blast doors will slow down the Terminators and give the Stormies more time to get heavy weapons, lay charges, put mines on mousebots, etc. While very tough, even Terminators cannot defeat 10,000+ troops on their home ground.

So it's a race. Can the ISD jump away in time to defeat the intrudwers in detail or not? If niether side catches plot induced stupidity (and both sides have low resistance to that) then it is a close thing.
