Star Trek vs Star Wars --- The two greatest sci-fi legends
Star Trek versus Star Wars! A question that has no possible answer, as all ends cannot be seen. I, personally, think that Star Trek would acheive a victory after a lengthy and vicous war. Both sides have awesome qualities, and the resources. But it all comes down to a couple factors:
1.Teleportation-Star Trek has the power of teleportation, this would be the greatest advatage in the war against Star Wars. All they do is beam a couple hundred thousand troops into the heart of a planets capital and take the city down form the inside! Or if a battle is going to badly for Start Trek just beam all the troops to a safer location
2.Warp Speed-Warp speed is another critical factor in the war. I don't recall any Star War ships going to warp ten. This speed could be the difference in losing ten enterprise-sized ships or just losing one.
Well to me these seem to be the biggest advatages that Star Trek would have over Star wars. Their might be numerous other small ones be these could be the ones that turn the tide of war. But what do you think?
This is my first post so please forgive any errors or such in it, as I am still not accustomed to posting at this site

There are no endings save death, only pauses for breath, and new beginnings. Always, new beginnings... it's why the world grows ever more crowded, ye see. So remember, now - there are no endings, only beginnings. There; simple enough, isn't it?

Star Trek doesn't have troops to transport, nor the ability to transport so many people at once, nor the ability to beam through a shield, nor the ability to get close enough to beam down in the first place.Elminster wrote: 1.Teleportation-Star Trek has the power of teleportation, this would be the greatest advatage in the war against Star Wars. You're absolutely right. No SW ship goes anywhere near that damn slow.2.Warp Speed-Warp speed is another critical factor in the war. I don't recall any Star War ships going to warp ten. This speed could be the difference in losing ten enterprise-sized ships or just losing one.
In addition, just as a side note, SW ships are many many many orders of magnitude more powerful, more durable, and more numerous than ST ships.

On the one hand I too want to tell you guys to tone it down a little and not be too agressive, however the newbie failed to even read the website this bulletin board is attached to. All I can say is, "Yikes!" You seem to be poorly informed. Try reading the content of this site, and you'll find that Star Trek (Federation) is badly outclassed in every area you mentioned. Here are some places to begin:Elminster wrote:Star Trek versus Star Wars! A question that has no possible answer, as all ends cannot be seen. No but Star Trek ships can't go to warp ten either. The crew "evolves" into lizards if they do, remember?Elminster wrote:2.Warp Speed-Warp speed is another critical factor in the war. Furthermore, with the fastest transwarp ST has it still takes them months to cross their galaxy, but with SW hyperdrive they can do it in hours or days.
And you need to read the website this board is attached to. If you don't it's going to get really hot (and by that I mean that you're going to get flamed. Bad) ...

Re: Star Trek vs Star Wars --- The two greatest sci-fi legen
Actually, it has a very simple and possible answer.Elminster wrote:Star Trek versus Star Wars! A question that has no possible answer, as all ends cannot be seen.
I, personally, think that you don't know a thing about the topic you are speaking about. Unless you are talking omnipotent beings, Trek goes down like a 2 dollar whore.I, personally, think that Star Trek would acheive a victory after a lengthy and vicous war.
Actually resources has always been the deciding factor. One side has 70% of a glaaxy to draw upon for resources and builds moon sized space station in months. The other has 550 planets max and thakes 6 years to build a cruiser. Both sides have awesome qualities, and the resources.
Firepower, speed, and defenses? But it all comes down to a couple factors:
of course those are not the ones you chose.
Aside from the fact that one of the major flaws is that Trek doesn't have ground troops, there is the simple fact that planetary shields and defenses would preclude your plan and that jamming, such as was observed at the Battle of Geonosis, would prevent the use of transporters.1.Teleportation-Star Trek has the power of teleportation, this would be the greatest advatage in the war against Star Wars. All they do is beam a couple hundred thousand troops into the heart of a planets capital and take the city down form the inside! Or if a battle is going to badly for Start Trek just beam all the troops to a safer location
And you are talking about sending spandex clad troops up against guys in armor, with more powerful weaons and combined forces tactics. Do you hate redshirts or something?
You do realize that a very slow class 3 hyperdrive used on Darth Mauls ship was able to cross half the galaxy overnight (as in under 12 hours), right? THat is far, far FAR faster then warp is. And trek can't do warp 10 either.2.Warp Speed-Warp speed is another critical factor in the war. I don't recall any Star War ships going to warp ten. This speed could be the difference in losing ten enterprise-sized ships or just losing one.
I think you didn't do a damn bit of research.Well to me these seem to be the biggest advatages that Star Trek would have over Star wars. Their might be numerous other small ones be these could be the ones that turn the tide of war. But what do you think?

Goddamnit people, before you click Discussion Forums, READ THE WEBSITE
Wrong dumbass. Important planets have planetary shields theatre shields (Aldaraan and Hoth) as well as jammers. No transporters. And it took a whole convoy to transport 30 000 troops, never mind 300 000!
DS9: Waltz
KIRA: And twelve more to reach the Badlands, I know. But this convoy is completely unprotected. They've been using the plasma fields in the Badlands to hide their movements, but when they emerge they'll be helpless without the Defiant.
...
KIRA: Worf. (he stops, then quiet and urgent) There are over thirty thousand Federation troops in that convoy. You have fifty-two hours. Not one second longer. Understood?
Hey Captain Stupid, the only federation ship to reach warp 10 was a Voyager shuttle which needed special dilithium and, oh yeah, turned the pilot into a salamander!
No. If you can't be bothered to READ THE SITE THIS BOARD IS ATTACHED TO I can't be bothered to forgive.

That warp 10 was bullshit anyway. Can someone present evidence that their ship was in all points of the entire universe at once? No? Then it doesn't even matter whether it turns you into a salamander. Warp 10 is supposedly asymptotic, and undefined because it's a division-by-zero situation. If they think they reached it, that only means they're stupid and misusing their instruments. The fact that they were only a few light-years away after warp 10 travel should provide a hefty clue.

Umm....wtf?Elminster wrote:Star Trek versus Star Wars! A question that has no possible answer, as all ends cannot be seen. I, personally, think that Star Trek would acheive a victory after a lengthy and vicous war. Both sides have awesome qualities, and the resources. But it all comes down to a couple factors:
There is an easy simple utterly possible answer :- The Empire layeth the smacketh down.....
Star Trek lacks the resources, and awesome qualities is never a phrase I'd consider taking anywhere near Starfleet Engineering staff....they seem to be alergic to it.
One word, Jamming.1.Teleportation-Star Trek has the power of teleportation, this would be the greatest advatage in the war against Star Wars. All they do is beam a couple hundred thousand troops into the heart of a planets capital and take the city down form the inside! There's tons of ways to do it and any of them will result in transporter use being screwed.
Transporters as a fun exotic way of dieing and being re-created is good...but it wont win you a war.
Warp 10 is bullshit, as they were moving at a measurable speed (they could tell how far they'd gone etc) they obviously werent going at an infinite speed (which in itself is sooo stupid). Hyperdrive outclasses warp by an amazing amount.2.Warp Speed-Warp speed is another critical factor in the war. I don't recall any Star War ships going to warp ten. This speed could be the difference in losing ten enterprise-sized ships or just losing one.
I suggest before continuing to post you check e-bay and see if you can buy yourself a clue...the size you need will probably go for about 999k on there.....or alternitively READ THE WEBSITE and get the clue you need for free....Well to me these seem to be the biggest advatages that Star Trek would have over Star wars. Explain to me how without all this crap getting in the way of Voyager, and being so amazing to help them get home so fast that it would have tooken 75 years to get back home? Like Keevan said these things are easy as hell to jam. A type of ROCK can jam it for god's sake. And I do remember SW has similar tech, if any of you remember in Splinters of the Mind Eye the Imperials had bars that could moleculaly deconstruct themselves and then reappear after being held that way for a time.
Ah yes, and if I remember correctly it took 6 YEARS to build a Galaxy-class starship, where the Death Star took 6 MONTHS. Industry is owned by SW.
