So how do you deal with a cold

Post by Ghost Rider »

Well reason I ask is currently I am a tad under the weather as they call it(under what...ah nevermind) so my general cure is to take a long hot bath...then curl oneself inas many blankets...find a warm room, drink a warm NON alcoholic beverage(no matter how good it sounds) and wait it out or until I collaspe there sleeping.

So whatcha do when the bug strikes ya?

3 times the recommended dosage of anything containing pseudoephidrine.

3-4 panadeine forte.

Pass out for 36 hours, wake up feeling much better.

Geck. I just had mono. Was sick for five days but I'm better now. Kinda tired, but up and about.

Basically, I lie around, down tylenol by the bucketload and watch my precious, precious Fawlty Towers tapes.

Suck it up and deal with it. It goes away on it's own. But if you absolutely must do something, chicken noodle soup with garlic does work wonders (though it will kill your social life faster than the cold will.)

Hot mead with a pinch of cinnammon will kill a cold faster than anything else I've ever encountered....a little pinch of paprika cant hurt either....

There's no cure for common cold, all you can do is wait till is over, either taking a pill or something to ease the symptoms or feel like crap for a day or two.

Sleep, drink fluids, watch movies, exercise if I'm up to it.

Doing some activity like moving furniture seems to also ease the feeling for a while. At least it seemed like that, just no sudden moves if you have a headache of course.

Wait for the massive sinus infection that always follows before the anti biotic crush the dark mucus producing bacteria scum.

I just deal with it. I drink lots of orange juice during the time. Other than that, I just go around all bummed out.

I do the orange juice supercharger treatment. When I wake up and go, "Oh shit, I've got a cold," I drink half a gallon of OJ a day for three days. It probably plays hell with my kidneys, but my cold's gone on the fourth day.

Chicken Corn Soup or Hot and Sour Soup help me feel better. My colds almost always involve lots of sinus pain which really makes me feel horrible.

A chemical in orange oil has been found to cause kidney cancer in male rats. However, that is completely irrelevant because that problem is unique to male rats and does not affect humans or female rats. My guess is he meant that drinking that much fluid makes his kidneys very busy.

I have'nt gotten any major colds, but when I do get one, I get some rest while staying active when I can, as well as having some hot food and drink.

Normally I don't get sick, unless I'm overstressing my body, like I have been lately, needless to say I just got my ass kicked by a cold, went right into the lungs and now on top of that I got the usual sinus infection...

For me I normally just let the immune system take it out and just roll with it till it burns out. On the rare occasion when I get a real bad one I can consciously raise the body temp, hit about 105-107 for about 4 hours and the cold or flu is gone. But to do that one involves some planning and a good deal of energy, needless to say right now I lack the time for planning and I lack the energy thanks to school.
