Re: Christopher Nolan's Inception
Just saw it last night and I enjoyed it. It had a little of everything, but I really wish they'd explored the ability to shape dreams a bit more than they did. In all a very excellently put together movie with no gaping flaws that I noticed.
School requires more work than I remember it taking...

Hmm.. JLTucker, can you post the shooting script for the very last scene in the movie before the credits roll? Does it have a reference to the ages of the children there?

The children's ages aren't mentioned and the top-wobbling isn't there, either.Cykeisme wrote:Hmm.. JLTucker, can you post the shooting script for the very last scene in the movie before the credits roll? Does it have a reference to the ages of the children there?
Re: Christopher Nolan's Inception
Finally got a chance to see it. Loved it.
As for the ending...
I'm pretty certain that it was, in fact, real. The top never wavered in a dream, ever. Nolan also seemed to make it fairly clear that the totem was an accurate way to determine dream from reality. With how well done the rest of the movie was with how it dealt with dreaming and dreams within dreams - it would've been stupid to have the entire movie be within a dream. His wife, Mal, was wrong - the entire point of her being wrong was proof of concept that inception could be done. I also loved how subtle her inception was.
Additionally, besides the totem, a common way to discover a dream was to think about how you got there. It's brought up several times "You want to know if this is a dream? Think, how did you get here?" In the end, Cobb wakes up and knows how he got home - he wasn't just there. What's really left up to question, is how long, by their perception, Cobb and Saito were stuck in limbo - and how god awfully long it felt to them before they were back.
However, I saw this pointed out (though I'm not certain of the accuracy of this claim) that Cobb never successfully spun/watched his top in reality since the scene where he was trying out the chemist's sedative. He never actually spins it in the bathroom, but drops it, and sees a flash of his wife in the mirror. That could be just to make the ending more ambiguous, but I still think Cobb was actually home in the end.

Irrelevant. The sound the top makes at the end is consistent with a top losing it's balance. Tops don't magically recover from that. It fell. That's that.JLTucker wrote: The children's ages aren't mentioned and the top-wobbling isn't there, either.
Not just that, but he's physically unrecognizable due to the muscle he put on to play the notorious British prison icon Charles Bronson in 2008. The embarrassingly effete male model that played Shinzon in 2002 was buried under so much beefcake.Bounty wrote:Me neither. + we hear that french song in slow-mo (the music that was supposed to wake you up. In dreams everything goes slower, hence the song in slow-mo).Crazedwraith wrote:

Technically, most of the soundtrack is made up of either sped up or slowed down versions of that song - including the "main theme." Another suggestion is that the slowed down music during the credits is for the audience to "wake up" from the movie.

saw it yesterday with family. I liked it, and so did my family but it was pretty damn confusing at times. It's actually more confusing then alice in wonderland.

Re: Christopher Nolan's Inception
Speaking of top wobbling, my brother just saw it for the second time over the weekend and he said that if you stay after the credits it actually does show the top falling.JLTucker wrote:The children's ages aren't mentioned and the top-wobbling isn't there, either.Cykeisme wrote:Hmm.. Evil will always triumph over good, because good, is dumb

I am unable to verify that.

Re: Christopher Nolan's Inception
I stayed until the very end of the credits and there was not footage of the top falling, there was no sound of the top falling and there was the sound of je ne regrette rien.Koolaidkirby wrote:Speaking of top wobbling, my brother just saw it for the second time over the weekend and he said that if you stay after the credits it actually does show the top falling.JLTucker wrote:The children's ages aren't mentioned and the top-wobbling isn't there, either.Cykeisme wrote:Hmm.. Until someone says they personally saw or heard something different, then that will be the actual ending, and anyone saying anything different because of what someone told them was lied to.
Apparently nobody can see you without a signature.
