... how the fuck did I manage to quote my own post when I meant to make a new reply?
Anyways, what I going to say was it's a lot funnier to think that some stupid fundie has a gay poet for his screen name rather than a sci-fi character. The odd capitalization threw me off as it doesn't really match either, unless you can't have apostrophes in your name on this site.
Regardless, LionElJonson, way to reply to what I said instead of my little poking fun at your name. Although, considering you usually abandon a thread after your bullshit inane arguments are torn to bits why am I surprised.

I don't want to be banned. I've heard of how ban-happy the mods of this site can be, and I've been burned by this sort of thing before, so I decided to tone it down a bit and concede arguments when it looks like I'm losing one, rather than pushing my luck and bulling on regardless.kouchpotato wrote:Regardless, LionElJonson, way to reply to what I said instead of my little poking fun at your name. Good strategy. It's better (in our eyes) to leave a thread rather than to dig your hole even deeper, although conceding when you lose is best of all.LionElJonson wrote:I don't want to be banned. A Government founded upon justice, and recognizing the equal rights of all men; claiming higher authority for existence, or sanction for its laws, that nature, reason, and the regularly ascertained will of the people; steadily refusing to put its sword and purse in the service of any religious creed or family is a standing offense to most of the Governments of the world, and to some narrow and bigoted people among ourselves.

If this really happened, surely it was caught on video. Please provide a link to the video of this chanting which you claim occured.kouchpotato wrote:like when the teabaggers chanted nigger and faggot during protests? Or their blatant hate towards anyone to the left of them politically?

Chants? Maybe not. Racist signs? There are plenty of them.

I believe the incident in question was directed and US Congressmen during a protest on the Hill (this Spring IIRC). I don't know if there is audio or video, but the actual incident was widely reported.gizmojumpjet wrote:If this really happened, surely it was caught on video. Re: Tea Party: grassroots? Try funded by wealthy businessmen
Why was it necessarily caught on video? I think the media stopped paying any real attention to these losers a year ago, when they stopped being newsworthy. The only people filming the rally would likely be the teabaggers themselves. I wonder why they don't come forward with evidence...gizmojumpjet wrote:If this really happened, surely it was caught on video. It was corroborated by the president of the AFL-CIO, Richard Trumka if that helps.

The degree to which an allegation is parroted by the media and blogosphere has zero bearing on the actual facts.Temujin wrote:I don't know if there is audio or video, but the actual incident was widely reported.
And I should just take your word for that? Or his, for that matter? Maybe you're not up to speed on the value of anecdotal evidence. Let me clear that up for you: anecdotal evidence is worthless.kouchpotato wrote:It was corroborated by the president of the AFL-CIO, Richard Trumka if that helps.

How about my evidence? There are plenty of racist asshole signs there.
There is also this:
A bunch of asshole teabaggers (and yes, this is exactly the same retarded demographic*) harassing some guy because they think he looks Muslim (i.e. looks Brown). They didn't even give him the chance to explain himself before acting like inbred shitheads.
* Have a look at their signs in the previous video I posted. Teabaggers obviously think being Muslim is just about the worst thing possible (which is why there are signs accusing Obama of being one).

The reporting in question did include plenty of eyewitness reports of the incident, including interviews with people on scene including the congressmen in question. I could waste my time trying to dig that shit up, but I'm very busy; and it wouldn't make a bit of difference since you would still wouldn't accept it.gizmojumpjet wrote:The degree to which an allegation is parroted by the media and blogosphere has zero bearing on the actual facts.Temujin wrote:I don't know if there is audio or video, but the actual incident was widely reported.
It's been pretty firmly established as fact that the Tea Party is primarily made up of a bunch of ultra right wing assholes that firmly embrace racist, homophobic and other ultra conservative hatreds. It's not our job to provide you with your irrefutable evidence when you conveniently ignore the mountain of evidence that exist simply because you disagree and because the sources aren't valid (i.e., too liberal) in your mind.

Re: Tea Party: grassroots? Try funded by wealthy businessmen
I'm not arguing that the tea party movement hasn't attracted its share of loons and radicals; every political movement does so. It's one thing to have a few people at a rally of hundreds or thousands carrying offensive signs; those signs reflect upon the people who carry them and it's not surprising to see fringe elements showing up at rallies.Temujin wrote:It's not our job to provide you with your irrefutable evidence when you conveniently ignore the mountain of evidence that exist simply because you disagree and because the sources aren't valid (i.e., too liberal) in your mind.
A crowd "[chanting] nigger and faggot during protests" as kouchpotato claims is obviously quite a bit more extraordinary than a few dicks with hateful signs. The congressmen at the middle of this whole affair were supposedly carrying video cameras themselves at the time. It is, therefore, not unreasonable to expect that if the incident took place, surely someone would have caught it on camera, most especially since practically every political protest these days has attendees from the opposite side, so to speak, in attendance specifically to gather such footage.
An extraordinary claim was made, I asked for support for it as both common sense and the rules of this board allow, and in return I've gotten anecdotes, excuses about being too busy, and argumentum ad populum.
