Good work MoCo Police. I might have to send a cake by my local police station for a prompt and effective reply to this jerkwad via bullets. And yes, I've driven past the Discovery building many times -- it's the centerpiece of the revitalization of the downtown silver spring area.

Yeah. I think it is established that this guy is crazy.

I don't think he was a breeder, anyway.

Has there been any more information about the alleged explosive devices? Were they really explosives, or just empty cannisters?

Also, I can't wait for the Discovery Channel documentary of this hostage crisis.

Considering that apparently something exploded, the odds seem good that at least one of them was more than an empty canister...MSNBC now says the device that exploded was attached to his body.

I'm not sure why precisely you find this particular statement so crazy, but it's not for the objection to the danger modern warfare poses to wildlife. You don't really need any more reasons to avoid warfare, but if you did, the number of species that have been injured, killed or endangered by landmines would be one.

Rightly or wrongly a human being who glosses over the hideous effects of warfare upon his own species comes off slightly eccentric when expressing overweening concern for the welfare of other species and war's effect upon them.

I believe the correct description of such an individual is "misanthropist"

Now I did a job. I got nothing but trouble since I did it, not to mention more than a few unkind words as regard to my character so let me make this abundantly clear. I do the job. Oh, I believe that wildlife suffers from warfare, I know that and can get behind that. However, opposing all warfare purely due to its environmental damage as opposed to adding the massive amount of economic and human suffering it gives kind of comes off as morally screwed. Unless you believe that animals are more important than humans.
