Post by theski »

Here are my favorite movies that you may not have heard of or seen.
1. Twilights Last Gleaming
2. Miracle Mile
3. Dog Soldiers

List em if you got em

Boondock Saints!

Damn good movie. It's actually an interesting peice on the notions of the justice, vengeance, and morality disguised as a kick ass action movie. Not to mention it has one of the best scores ever!

The Pigeon Egg Strategy. Played at film festivals and then disappeared from existence. A brilliantly written piece of work, with an interesting concept. As a bonus, I cannot in good conscience describe the story, because it is atemporal.

I thought The Prophecy was a good straight-to-video movie.

Dog Soldiers? Is that a werewolf flick? Kind of like Predator?

Schizopolis. Starring and directed by Steven Soderbergh. I'm not even going to try to explain it.

The Fall of the Roman Empire - One of those big 60s Cinerama extravanganzas. Covered the same subject matter as Gladiator, except more historically accurate - And still a better plot. It's long and sometimes slow, granted, but it conquers the slow parts with a tremendous classical score by Dmitri Tiomkin. Oh, and it has Sophia Loren in it, looking her best.

The film was considered rather so-so when released, with the score really holding it up - But I think it's been highly underrated. I'd certainly say that if you liked Gladiator you should watch it, as you'll like this one more.

Fear of a Black Hat. It's the "This is Spinal Tap" of gangasta rap. It follows a group called NWH (N*ggers with Hats, because they wear outlandish hats) and their career. Their members are Ice Cold, Tasty Taste, and Tone-Def. Tasty, in one scene explains why he has a bazooka in his armory: "This is good if you wanna take out a bus or a building.(He attempts to lift it and nearly falls over). Also, if I can't pick it up, I gotta have it."

It was OK, nothing special IMO. The best bit was the visual gag at the end.

Hey, I love that movie! I'm surprised no one is watching it these days, I think it's as good as Ben Hur. Sophia Loren was a damn fine looking woman in her day...

Being one of those pesky foreigners who doesnt speak english on an everday basis... I think Ive got an edge on you here... :D

Great Swedish movies you should catch up on:(In order of greatness)
1. Fucking Åmål (English title: Show me love). Actually, you might just have seen this one. All of Sweden has, more or less and I know people from lots of other countries that has too. Aka "The swedish teen lesbian movie". And no, it is NOT a porno flick.

2. Den Osynlige (The Invisible). Very well acted Ghost-ish movie, but without the mushy romance, probably never made it out of sweden as it's rather low-budget. An excellent movie though.

3. Besökarna (The Visitors). The best and scariest haunted house movie I ever saw. Excellent... simply excellent.

4. Mitt liv som hund (My life as a dog) By Lasse Hallström, before he went to Hollywood to direct movies such as What's eating Gilbert Grape and Chocolat.

5. Livvakterna (The Bodyguards). Excellent actionthriller, something you dont see a lot of made in sweden. Proves that you dont need a huge budget to make great action.

6. Coq Rouge. Good spy thriller based on a novel by Jan Guillou. The sequel Den demokratiske terroristen (The democratic terrorist) is also good, but the ones after that, Vendetta and Hamilton are just plain shit, although the tv miniseries Fiendens fiende (Enemy of my enemy) was quite ok.

7. Sista kontraktet (Last contract). Nice little movie about what could have been the story behind the murder of swedish minister of state Olof Palme in 1986.

So... why dont you check out the foreign film section next time youre at the video store and look for the little blue and yellow flag of ours? ;)

Dog soldiers, a movie that my grandfather highly recommended but I shruggged off untill along time after he said so. I loved that movie and regret that I didn't watched it after he said I should. Nuff said.
They say, "the tree of liberty must be watered with the blood of tyrants and patriots." I suppose it never occurred to them that they are the tyrants, not the patriots. Those weapons are not being used to fight some kind of tyranny; they are bringing them to an event where people are getting together to talk. -Mike Wong

But as far as board culture in general, I do think that young male overaggression is a contributing factor to the general atmosphere of hostility. It's not SOS and the Mess throwing hand grenades all over the forum- Red

Funny. Silly. Carmen Electra's tits and ass everywhere.

Indeed, that bit with the guys dressed up as sperm running at the wall may be the funniest sight gag I've ever seen.

Also how sperm react during oral sex:

"Ah, dammit, it's another blowjob."

84 Charlie Mopic, a low-budget but quietly impressive Vietnam movie.
