I've witnessed the insanity of some of the more rabid trek vs. debaters from the earliest days of ASVS, (I lurked a lot) and it still amazes me that there are people obsessive enough to think that there's actually an Evil Warsie ConspiracyTM directed against them.

For most of us, Vs. debating is something we do for fun in our free time. For Darkstar and those like him, it's some kind of twisted obsession.

He can't rationalize Gigaton or Teraton level firepower in franchises that have casual melting of planetary crusts, and can on occasion blow up planets, but he thinks stargate can pull them off? The same stargate where ship weapons hitting the ground look like over sized grenade explosions?

But don't you know, they have gigaton nukes? Therefore all their weapons must have TEH GIGATONZ. Whereas everything above megaton in SW or 40K is hyperbole/chain reaction/NDF etc.

As Darth Hoth noted, everything to him is open to interpretation, preferably one that doesn't involve TEH GIGATONZ.

Pretty much. Most of the members at SFJ are on a Crusade to Defeat the dreaded ICS and the EVIL WARSIE CONSPIRACY. That and pretend they are unbiased paragons of logic

As I said the way he interprets 40K canon, lack of specific mention of 610GT torpedoes in the later editions of Space Hulk constitutes as a retcon in his mind.

Don't remember anything specific, but like all scifi VFX it is scientifically flawed in one way or another. And therefore easy to pick apart and derive a lower yield or write off as non DET weaponry

How can VFX be scientifically flawed? They're nothing but images. They do nothing but show what happens. They show what happens, nothing more. The analysis of the scenes can be flawed, but never the scenes themselves.
