To get things on topic, who's heard the Georgian War March (Ippolitov-Ivanov)? It's fantastic. Also on Hearts of Iron.

Even if that figure is correct, you're still talking about 20-25% of them being unwilling kidnapees.Ted wrote:OK, now, the majority of the sailsors the British took off the american ships were deserters, approx. 75-80%.
Which is why Americans got so pissed off, Ted. They broke away from Britain and no longer considered themselves members of the Empire. What the British considered to be acceptable kidnapping targets is irrelevant.Another reason, was that the British considered all those born in the 13 colonies before 1783 were British subjects, and as such, viable targets for impressment. The Royal Navy was only allowed by law to impress British subjects.

So? The South lost, remember? The Yanks won. Ergo, America is a Yankee nation. It's technically less ambiguous than America in some ways, since the entire Northern and Southern American continents are often referred to as the "Americas".NF_Utvol wrote:I resent the phrase 'Yankee', seeing that it is used as a derogatory term in my region of the country

On-topic, hell yeah. The 1812 Overture is one of the finest pieces of music ever composed. And who cares if it's not American? Star Wars isn't even patriotic and they still play it at 4th of July fireworks shows. Who cares? Music is music. I'd like to hear this Georgian War March, but I haven't had much luck finding it on Kazaa.
