Best soundtrack?

Post by Trytostaydead »

What was the best ORIGINAL soundtrack you have heard?

It's hard for me to decide..

Of COURSE Star Wars is up there
Jurassic Park
A.I.
Schindler's List
...actually, about anything John Williams..

Crimson Tide
Titanic
Gettysburg
Gods and Generals

Star Wars at the top, obviously.

Ben-Hur kicks ass, Gladiator is awesome, and Howard Shore's LoTR stuff is rather good also. The Godfather soundtrack is badass, also.

Practically anything by my favourite composers. And I like a shitload from Hans Zimmer to John Williams from John Powell and Harry Gregson-Williams to Nobuo Uematsu and Basil Poledouris.

I can't say there is a best soundtrack because there isn't.

Are we just talking scores here, or soundtracks in general?

Conan the Barbarian. No movie ever had music which matched it's mood better. I'd have to say John Williams' score to Supeman: the Movie is the next runner up.

I'm with Neoolong! That soundtrack kicks ass! the LotR ones are good, and anything John Williams or Hans Zimmer has touched. Not to leave out Danny Elfmans scores.

I thought the main score from Batman was pretty good.
Writer's Guild 'Ghost in the Machine'/Decepticon 'Devastator'/BOTM 'Space Ape'/Justice League 'The Tick'

It's always the quiet ones.

In no order..

The Fellowship of the Ring
Terminator
Terminator 2
Earth 2150 The Moon Project
Command and Conquer
Tiberium Sun, Firestorm
Red Alert.

I like allot of game soundtracks.

The Empire Strikes Back was a flawless soundtrack.
Both the Lord of The Rings films have excellent soundtracks, as well.
Then there's The Rock and Gladiator.

Ah, game soundtracks also.

There's FF6, arguably the quintessential video game soundtrack. There's Chrono Trigger, Chrono Cross, Xenogears; hell, pretty much anything by Yasunori Mitsuda. There's Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, also known as "An Orchestra in your Playstation." There's so many great game soundtracks, I couldn't even begin to start...

Final Fantasy VI was awesome. I'd highly recommend picking up the "Grand Finale" album. Also, the Orchestral Game Concert did a 20-minute opera performance of "The Dream Oath."

Final Fantasy VIII was also an outstanding soundtrack. I thought I'd hate it when they mentioned that it'd have a "pop" sound as a main theme, but "Eyes On Me" was perfectly done.

Final Fantasy Tactics is probably the best Final Fantasy soundtrack I can think of, though. The music is just plainly beautiful.

A turn-based strategy game released in 1998. You may be skeptical, but it's probably the best game of it's genre ever put out.

Grand Finale is a goodie, but I still consider Symphonic Suite to be the reigning King of orchestrated FF music.

The score from the Matrix was very good i thought as was the scores from the Lynch Dune. But of course we can forget the Soundtrack to any SW movie. I have the Imperial Match as a ring tone and even that gets my spine tingleing bloody vibrate feature is too strong

Basically they took a great man character classes from FF3(japanese) and FF5 and made it into a strategy game.

The game was hard as hell to find and I am damn proud to say I own one when it first came out...it's a kickass game except too few party member on your side(fieling only five...wish they took Tactic Ogre and made it 12)

Also they are making a pseudo sequel called Final Fantasy Tactics Advanced for the GBA
