Pure conjecture you have no idea how many ships or personel the Alliance has.

Re: SGU 2x2 Aftermath
I'd say that where the Lucian Alliance is concerned there's been nothing but conjecture about their supposed capabilities and overall size in this thread as well. We have nothing but conjecture to go on. It's not unfair to say that Earth could accomplish a great deal with the combined armed forces and infrastructure of every major nation on the planet. The SGC has, after all, managed with far less. It's also not unfair to say that the lack of disclosure is, to put it bluntly, fucking stupid.Zac Naloen wrote:Pure conjecture you have no idea how many ships or personel the Alliance has.

They are already tapping into the private sector, and the major world governments are already aware of what's going on. The problem they have isn't money or people, it's that they just don't have enough ships to win a straight fight against the Alliance, if they did we wouldn't have on show statements that the Alliance are a big threat and if they attack Earth we couldn't win. It's exactly the same problem the Ancients found themselves in in the Pegasus galaxy and we'll need to "head off" the attack, presumably using similar hit and fade tactics that were used against Goa'uld facilities.I'd say that where the Lucian Alliance is concerned there's been nothing but conjecture about their supposed capabilities and overall size in this thread as well. Money may not be the issue but manpower definitely is. Are you honestly saying that relatively insignificant amount of personnel isn't a factor? Seriously? You just contradicted your whole point about Earth being outnumbered.Zac Naloen wrote: They are already tapping into the private sector, and the major world governments are already aware of what's going on. They don't have nearly as many people as they should. That's one of the reasons why disclosure is needed. Until they can automate things to a greater degree they need as many people as possible on board to make things flow faster. That includes starship construction. You can't deny that there would be definite advantages to having the IOA member countries on an interplanetary war footing.
I do agree that even in a post-Disclosure world they'd still need to resort to guerrilla tactics, but once the fleets have been sufficiently built up (thanks to the infrastructure being in place), then they can properly mobilise and begin a full-scale war.
Do you have a word for word quote that a Lucian Alliance attack against Earth would be unstoppable? All they've said in Stargate Universe thus far is that an attack is being planned. That's all.

This is frankly because the writers handed them an incredible advantage (know where the enemy are at all times) and hit the Asurans with an idiot ball that meant they not once fired drones against a 304 (they do it a few times against wraith ships and the Traveller Aurora). Given that drones are said (admittedly by Todd) to pass through 304 shields as of season 5 and there's nothing to ever contradict that, it's a reasonable assumption that if an Aurora engaged a 304 without being caught by surprise, it'd tear it a new one in a single volley; fully loaded it could even take out the entire 304 fleet, assuming (demonstrated drone range is higher) that they have a range-advantage so those beam weapons can't retaliate effectively.
