Level-5 Announces Professor Layton, Ace Attorney 3DS ...

Post by Whiplash »

Crossover
Level-5 announced today that it has partnered with Capcom to develop a crossover title for the Nintendo 3DS that will bring together Level-5’s acclaimed Professor Layton series with Capcom’s beloved Ace Attorney franchise into one glorious puzzle solving courtroom drama.

The official announcement came during Level-5’s Vision press conference where Ace Attorney designer Shu Takumi joined Level-5 CEO Akihiro Hino to unveil the new game. Takumi will oversee the scenario design of the game.
The game doesn’t have an official English name just yet, but the Japanese title will be Layton Kyouju vs. Gyakuten Saiban, which, as Andriasang points out, essentially translates to Professor Layton vs. Ace Attorney. As for the story, Layton fans will feel right at home as Layton and attorney Phoenix Wright find themselves in a mystical, witch-infested town called Labyrinth City.
While Layton attempts to solve the mysteries surrounding a man known as the Story Teller, whose magical pen is capable of creating anything it writes, Wright will be tasked with defending a citizen accused of witchcraft. Am I wrong, or does this sound like one of the greatest scenarios for a game ever?
Professor Layton is one of the main reasons why I want a 3DS, and this announcement just made me a guaranteed future 3DS owner.

Like I said, am I wrong?
Oh ... shit. I love me some Phoenix Wright, though I never finished the only Layton game I've ever touched, Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box.

So far I've been pretty impressed with the sheer amount of quality titles lined up for the 3DS launch. My DS has been mostly gathering dust so this might actually get me interested again.

The 3DS might turn out to be the only decent thing to come out of modern 3D technology. I traded my DS after years of disuse, however.

I forgot to include the source, my bad.

I'm not too sure about what I think of the plot itself, but I can't wait to finally see what this looks like. No one used the term 'at launch' so we might get this a little later, not to mention it'll be out in Japan first for several months (mostly likely).

The DS had a fucking amazing library, assuming you were into certain kinds of games and didn't mind waiting through the 18 month long game drought it had post-launch. Unfortunately, I don't like those kinds of games all that much.

3DS has an amazingly strong post-launch lineup. Most of the games announced probably won't come out at launch, but as long as it's within 12 months I'll be content.
A scientist once gave a public lecture on astronomy. He described how the Earth orbits around the sun and how the sun, in turn, orbits around the centre of a vast collection of stars called our galaxy.

At the end of the lecture, a little old lady at the back of the room got up and said: 'What you have told us is rubbish. The world is really a flat plate supported on the back of a giant tortoise.

The scientist gave a superior smile before replying, 'What is the tortoise standing on?'

'You're very clever, young man, very clever,' said the old lady. 'But it's turtles all the way down.'

I'm waiting for the first price cut on the 2nd iteration of the 3DS. My Wii and DS Lite can hold me over until then.
