New Ultramarines Movie Trailer is out... and looks awful

Re: New Ultramarines Movie Trailer is out... and looks awful
Animation still looks terribly floaty especially the lip synch, hopefully that's not a final render and they can tweak. Can see all the shortcuts to hide the budget, lots of smokey backgrounds that make it feel more like a fan film sadly.

Maybe it's along the lines of a republican asking "What makes a man gay?" or a priest asking "How do I know when I am falling to temptation?" They should already know, but they ask anyway because something makes them feel very uncomfortable with themselves and their understanding of the world.Stravo wrote:Now THAT is more like it.
"How do I recognize the taint of Chaos?" Really? A space marine needs to ask that?
Perhaps the marine fears he has already fallen.

Looks a load better, but I agree about the handy smoke filled backdrops.
Then again, battlefields aren't exactly shiny happy places in 40k, so it looks pretty good.
I did like the kersploding bolters, and the general look of things. Not quite sure what that Thunderhawk was zapping things with though.

The movie sight has lots of detailed images, concept artwork,...and character bios.
Almost all of them are newly promoted battle brothers.

Underwing-mounted rockets? Either that or the lascannon mounted on the winglets above the engines. I thought it could have been from the dorsal turbolaser, but the angle looks wrong.white_rabbit wrote:Looks a load better, but I agree about the handy smoke filled backdrops.

I read somewhere that GW released stats for the Ultramarines in the movie that reflects what we will see and they have things like "Movie Bolters" are assault 5 weapons or some nonsense like that. I have to track those stats down.
EDIT: Apparently they are listed in White Dwarf #300. Oh well.

The "movie marines"-list is rather old and has nothing to do with this movie. It was mostly intended as a mixture of a joke and a way to represent Marines from the canon in the tabletop.Stravo wrote:I read somewhere that GW released stats for the Ultramarines in the movie that reflects what we will see and they have things like "Movie Bolters" are assault 5 weapons or some nonsense like that. Re: New Ultramarines Movie Trailer is out... and looks awful
Is there a better version of that trailer somewhere? That one is dogshit and the sound keeps cutting out.
"The 4th Earl of Hereford led the fight on the bridge, but he and his men were caught in the arrow fire. Then one of de Harclay's pikemen, concealed beneath the bridge, thrust upwards between the planks and skewered the Earl of Hereford through the anus, twisting the head of the iron pike into his intestines. His dying screams turned the advance into a panic."'

Is anyone brave enough to pre-order the Collector's Edition? $35 USD + shipping.
I'm kinda thinking about it... showing support in hopes of even more and all that...

Re: New Ultramarines Movie Trailer is out... and looks awful
The terrible wording on their official site makes it sound like the only edition that exists is the special edition, without any kind of standard edition planned. The posters on Warseer have shit a brick over it. If it's true, then the only way to own might be the $35 plus $10(?) shipping Special Limited Edition Box.Elessar wrote:Is anyone brave enough to pre-order the Collector's Edition? $35 USD + shipping.

I really hope that's a mistake, though, because I want to own a copy, but not the special edition.

That trailer looks like video game intro scenes from the 90s. Chalk one up for no.

No no no no no. It was solely about hollywood cliches. It talks about the marines being able to have stunt doubles appear for the more dangerous stuff. It was not intended to be anything like the canon, and it isn't.Serafina wrote:It was mostly intended as a mixture of a joke and a way to represent Marines from the canon in the tabletop.

Is it just me, or would a movie about COMMISSAR CIAPHAS CAIN be a bit more popular with the rest of you?
Re: New Ultramarines Movie Trailer is out... and looks awful
I dunno; having to animate dozens or hundreds of Imperial Guard human faces at a time would be harder than helmeted Marines.

Re: New Ultramarines Movie Trailer is out... and looks awful
Can't help but feel having the first 40k feature length release being a character who satirises the IP would be a bit self-defeating. You need to build it up before you can remove a few bricks in the name of humour!DrMckay wrote:Is it just me, or would a movie about COMMISSAR CIAPHAS CAIN be a bit more popular with the rest of you?

Amen man. I was gonna say something about the animation looking almost as bad as TCW but, you beat me to it.VT-16 wrote:If I can watch TCW each week, I can watch a WH40K movie with slightly better visuals. Here's hoping it's a success so they greenlight more and improve the animation.

Indeed not. I no longer have any scans of it. Nonetheless, it's utterly and totally and totally and utterly not representative of canon at all. Stunt doubles and so on.IvanTih wrote:That's reason I couldn't find it.Could you provide a quote or is there a image of the page?
