Thought I can totally envision Shep playing as Robert McNamara and just letting him die over and over and over

This is a SPOILER. Note that it is in all caps. That means I'm really serious about just how spoiler the following information and images are. Don't want to know? Move along and don't read this post. DON'T click on the link.
Now that that's done.
We knew that a zombie mode was coming to Call of Duty: Black Ops, but weren't sure exactly how it would be delivered, given the more modern setting of the game this time.
Leaked videos of Call of Duty: Black Ops in action seem to show the solution as well as a terrific hook for the shooter's post-game zombie survival mode. This time around, instead of fighting off Nazi zombies as some nameless soldiers, you can take on the roles of John F. Kennedy, Richard Nixon, Robert McNamara or Fidel Castro as they fight to hold off the hordes in the Pentagon.
Damnit. I've been on the fence about this (originally didn't plan to get it, cause CoD is becoming samey-shooter) but from what I've seen it might be decent and now this...

I didn't get MW2 until it was down to $40 (fucking balls it took forever, too) because that's all it was worth, tops. BO is Treyarch, though, and it looks like they're taking the franchise in a more interesting direction (bringing back proper PC support, for one thing!). I'm loathe to give in to the crap that is a $60 new release, but I'm considering it in this case.

What are you talking about? It's a skin for horde mode.
Really, its pretty lame how terrible this zombie silliness is. While I'm not fat enough to care, a team-based mode with Nixon and JFK sounds pretty cool.
What entertains me more is Nixon on the right dual-wielding High Standard Model 10's (called the HS-10 in-game). Loved JFK's lines though, and is it "Insta-Kill," or "[A] Bitch to Kill"?
Agreed re: price point -- it's only vaguely now that I regret taking the plunge on MW2 for PC, but I wouldn't do it again, especially in light of what's planned for the PC version of Black Ops (some samples being no actual playlists, players can use /record, adjustable FOV*, and leaning).
What bad timing -- due to my dad's video card going kaput, I'm stuck with onboard graphics until Black Friday.
* After reading someone mention nausea when playing games with too low FOV, I'm reminded of the time I threw up after playing Borderlands for Xbox 360 too long at 480p on a monitor less than three feet from my face... and all the times that several PC games "inexplicably" made me nauseous but not others.

Same gameplay for all four, the only difference is said skins and situational dialogue (i.e. JFK's "But I want iiiiit!" when he can't afford a weapon).

I don't think I can afford this... although sadly the possibility does line up with sometimes getting a (hopefully merely psychosomatic) sense of something going on near the left rear of my head, particularly when I randomly get a horrid shooting pain behind the back of my left eye. I haven't noticed , except the times I've randomly dropped bowls or plates I was... aww shit now you've got me paranoid all because I mentioned this one time my nausea finally overwhelmed me... amazingly, the guy I was playing with on XBL didn't ragequit and actually acted concerned. Looks like I wasn't the only one to have issues with playing Borderlands on a display too close with "console" FOV.
As for the matter at hand, good fun! I'm still occassionally playing Der Reise from World at War.
Its Black Ops counterpart is getting its Mystery Boxes upgraded to drop Black Ops weapons.

Don't be retarded; I played Blands on a 42" TV less than a foot from my face and never had headaches and ghost sensations. Motion sickness is your problem, not a game's. Having played Blands on both platforms the FOV isn't even significantly different. Go see a fucking doctor.

Totally, I bought one and we had one in the lunge already so I set it up on my desk with my PC and 360. Having to turn your head to scan the viewable area was fun!
The default FOV is the same across all platforms (something silly like 70 or 75 IIRC, regardless of aspect ratio), the difference with the PC being that you can change it. It doesn't stick, though, reverting when the game is restarted or you enter a vehicle, so you have to bind a key to it. It looks better set at 105 or so on my 16:9 monitor, as the default feels... I dunno, claustrophobic, I guess is the best word to describe it?

Which game are you talking about here, Borderlands or BO?

The only time I've gotten any motion sickness from games was last night when the new dashboard update for 360 altered the friends list scrolling animation. Changing the theme seems to have resolved the issue.
OT: the new dashboard looks....wonky to me too. Like it moves too...crisply? It's a bit disconcerting. previously the scrolling was softer and...I dunno, I think I sound a little crazy right now.
They changed the perspective angle on the items so it's 'flat' on the screen/ It makes it move different and be totally useless beause you can only see two items at a time.

My issue was that teh friends stuff tried to do a forced perspective 3d movement in a weird way (moving across and "out"), that alone wasn't the trouble. Combine it with a lurid Sam and Max theme and it because a bit wibbly-wobbly.
