What makes you think the banks are expecting a different result from what happened in the US? The economic implosion might have sucked for the plebes, but the bankers came out of it rather well.

Didn't the Conservatives (that's the tories, right?) deregulate the banking system a bit? I think I might'e read about it some time ago, but I'm not sure.

Just saying, I'm blaming Harper for recent stupidity.
