Bethesda's shitty engine certainly never does.SilverWingedSeraph wrote:And even with mods, War Never Changes?

I wasn't too thrilled about that myself, especially considering the other option was to join Caesar or to use Yes-Man and get both Caesar and the NCR pissed at me. After all the trouble I went through to oust McNamara too.Oscar Wilde wrote:Well unfortunately, it seems House won't let me lie to him about Spoiler

Cazadors with their poison are damn lethal. However, now that I have a decent stealth skill, decent gun skill, and a nice mod Wasteland Gear that added a couple nice M1 Garands into the mix with my handcrafted .308 ammo and I can generally survive the nasty things.
Warhammer 40k fans did a fun mod for the original Fallout 3 that basically let you level up as a space marine. No real new quests or anything, just weapons, armor, etc. Still, going back to mothership zeta with a heavy bolter was loltastic fun.

I don't understand why the mods are allowed though. If you can't make Warhammer crossovers in other games, why Fallout?

After deciding to spy on the Tau, I noticed he had repair his drones. He said if I gave him fission batteries, he would make me a Gue'vesa and allow me to use them. I now have 2 pulse carbine drones, 1 sniper drone, 1 shield drone, and a command drone. Perhaps the storage facilitate will have the necessary tools to reproduce them.

No success. I will make them my personal body guards instead. While traveling I found a crashed shuttle, the equipment will be very useful, I should be able to have the automatons bring it to my headquarters. The uniforms will be used as clothing for my commanders.

Who's shutting them down? You're making no sense and I'm not convinced you aren't smoking crack. There were tons of mods for FO3 that only added minor changes.Chaotic Neutral wrote:I thought they had to be total conversions, or else they are shut down?
Of course if your definition of a mod is "useless fanfiction fluff" . . . then good luck.

Games Workshop do like to jump up and down on things that use their IP, but I very much doubt that a few weapon packs for fallout are high on their list of things to get the spiky lawyer boots on for.General Zod wrote:Who's shutting them down?Chaotic Neutral wrote:I thought they had to be total conversions, or else they are shut down?

I have a mod I would like to see, even though I can use other cheats, to alter ability points I like taking small frame because of the number of "Waifish" thief/stealth character females I played in the first two fallout games.
It doesn't change the size of my avatar, if I have small frame shouldn't my avatar look like a smaller person?
ditto if you did big guy, shouldn't your character well look big?
also adding onto that, if you have a small framed character with good melee and unarmed skills you should be able to take "Waif-fu" as a special power.

To some degree this can be changed with the body mods, but there's not that much selection in terms of size, to some degree it's standardized but there are thinner body mods, but most of the male body re placers seem to be "big guy" types. The other problem is sorting all the clothing to match - it might be possible with the script extender, but it'd be a lot of work. I think another solution would be to create a custom 'race' in GECK for your player character, that would at let you change the height, but I haven't tried this out. Mart's Mutant Mod for FO3 did random height for named NPCs and creatures as well. The Yosemite Bear wrote:I have a mod I would like to see, even though I can use other cheats, to alter ability points I like taking small frame because of the number of "Waifish" thief/stealth character females I played in the first two fallout games.

Loving this game so far. Cowboy repeater, handloads (I pretty much soley focused on guns and repair skills), handloaer, foureyes perk and a bounty hunters duster and boones hat. Godamn I love sniping with a cowboy rifle. The iron sights are the best addition to this game.

Re: I went to Vegas but all I got was shot in the face (Fall
I figured a combination of Bethesda and Obsidian would produce an unholy hellbeast but crikey. I've not had a game crash and burn on me this often since Fallout 2. At least with the patch the crashes aren't hard system locks that force a system reboot on me[1]. But other than the random crashes, scripting errors, and collision detection of the Daggerfall school, it's a pretty good game.
The game's writing is a considerable step up from Fallout 3 and it's amazing how much difference that made to my enjoyment. By the time I'd got about 20 hours in to Fallout 3 I'd had quite enough of it all and just rushed to the end (which was dire) to be done with it all. I clocked 45 hours on NV and I was still enjoying the hell out of it by the end. The ending was still weak[2], though this time it was an anti-climax rather than being outright terrible.
And plus points for not being quite so blatant a cheap and cheerful console port as Alpha Protocol with its controller-based mini-games.
[1] Yeah, I know. This should never happen. Probably a driver thing. But Obsidian games consistently find the magic self-destruct button while others work just fine. It is, to say the least, a tad obnoxious.
[2] I tend to attribute some of the weakness to the engine. While I couldn't stomach Oblivion all the way through, so there may be something there to say otherwise, it doesn't strike me as an engine that allows for much in the way of large-scale battles or anything remotely like them.

Anyone else having trouble with the mouse wheel for scrolling menus and such? It worked in Fo3 on XP, but stopped when I put FO3 on Win7, same with NV then ofcourse.

It's alright too here too.
Re: I went to Vegas but all I got was shot in the face (Fall
I haven't finished the game yet (so much to do!), but why if the ending does have a big fuck off final battle - my question is why? Neither FO1 or FO2 had it. This better not become a habit. I mean I know the tagline of FO is "war never changes" but come on ...

I have no idea. I wonder if the big final battle in New Vegas is better than the one in Oblivion. (I still haven't finished NV yet. Kept getting sidetracked by sidequests and getting frustrated by bugs.)
Man. The big final battle in Oblivion is so hilarious. It's like 20 guys, tops, on your side. Such an amazing last stand!

Fallout 1 had the Master's base at Maripose, and Fallout 2 had the Poseidon oil rig, complete with a last minute escape before it exploded and a last minute Boss (Special Agent Frank Hortigan).Vympel wrote:I haven't finished the game yet (so much to do!), but why if the ending does have a big fuck off final battle - my question is why? You could talk your way out of combat in FO1, (as opposed to shooting ever Super mutant in the base) but even sneaking around with Enclave power armor on in the Poseidon rig will require you to fight and kill Hortigan.
So, not really .

Horrigan can't be bypassed, but you don't really need to take part in the fight either. Just hack the turrets and convince sergeant Granite's squad to help you.The Grim Squeaker wrote:You could talk your way out of combat in FO1, (as opposed to shooting ever Super mutant in the base) but even sneaking around with Enclave power armor on in the Poseidon rig will require you to fight and kill Hortigan.
"Death before dishonour" they say, but how much dishonour are we talking about exactly? I mean, I can handle a lot. I could fellate a smurf if the alternative was death.

Re: I went to Vegas but all I got was shot in the face (Fall
Fighting Frank Horrigan doesn't really count as a big fuck off battle like FO3's massive orgy of destruction. It's just you, killing one guy. Otherwise walking around on the Oil Rig is a subdued affair. And I always went to Mariposa first, then the Cathedral, not the other way roundFallout 1 had the Master's base at Maripose, and Fallout 2 had the Poseidon oil rig, complete with a last minute escape before it exploded and a last minute Boss (Special Agent Frank Hortigan).
