What popular movies do you hate?
So what really popular movies did you hate? Try to stay away from the obvious ones like Pearl Harbor, Titanic, etc.
Personally, I hate 'Grease'. I cannot stand 'Grease'. The movie just makes me want to hurt people and break things, and the theme song is the most godawful lump of trash I've ever heard. I hate the plot, I hate the characters, and I hate the similarly godawful ending. I cannot find a single fucking thing that redeems this movie.

"The Wire" is the best show in the history of television. Watch it today.

Pearl Harbor... Made even more unpalatable by the makers playing the anti-war card so cack-handedly. I mean, they have somebody actually say "Hey kids, war is bad" (in the year 2001, for fuck's sake!) at the start of a film which sanitises and oversimplifies WWII and uses it as a hatstand for a spectacularly uninteresting love story. Zzzzzzz.

Pearl Harbour and Titanic are easy targets. So are Independence Day and Armageddon, both of which made shitloads of money despite being, well, shit.

You know the final moments of Titanic, where Kate Winslett's character dies and spiritually returns to the lost ship, and Leonardo DiCaprio's there, and...
Wouldn't it be good if Billy Zane also came back, with a M1911, and started busting caps? "Suck my steel, shitheads!" BLAMBLAM! BLAMBLAM! BLAMBLAM!

My Big Fat Greek Wedding, to which I was dragged to by a woman. Homely Greek chicks from Chicago who whine for 2 hours does not a good movie make. To be fair, there's nothing really wrong with the movie, I just flat out didn't like it.

The Patriot. I absolutely HATED the american rah rah bullshit that Mel Gibson spewed in this movie. This was a mindless popcorn flick that used its history as an afterthought. I hate it when movies pull that kind of crap.

I hate The Matrix. I find it a sloppily written and poorly performed film. While it is visually stunning, its lack of emotional and intellectual appeal eventually destroys its soul, and its attempt to distract viewers by bombarding them with meaningless symbolism is not only annoying but also dishonest.

I rather liked The Patriot; sure, historical accuracy was clearly not the focus and it was a bit smarmy at points, but I found it to be an exhilirating movie that actually captured the true meaning of American patriotism, not the bastardized post-9/11 version. The Patriot. I have to agree with you on this one. And I like John Travolta, too; he was great in Saturday Night Fever and Pulp Fiction. I just can't stand this movie. Even worse, they're making a Grease 3. However, it has Kylie Minogue in it, at least one redeeming factor.Personally, I hate 'Grease'. I cannot stand 'Grease'. I almost wish DiCaprio hadn't done Titanic, because he was so damn good in Gangs of New York and Catch Me If You Can, then you remember that shitty boat movie and you have to hate him for it.You know the final moments of Titanic, where Kate Winslett's character dies and spiritually returns to the lost ship, and Leonardo DiCaprio's there, and...

My personal votes for worst popular movie would be:
Rocky Horror Picture Show (sorry fanboys, you need to watch this alone at some point and realize how bad it sucks)
Any film in which Julia Roberts is a star (with a few very notable exceptions)
Charlie's Angels. I LOVE Cameron Diaz, and Bill Murray is great, but this is just not a very good movie.
BoTM / JL / MM / HAB / VRWC / Horseman
I'm studying for the CPA exam. Have a nice summer, and if you're down just sit back and realize that Joe is off somewhere, doing much worse than you are.

Hmmm..... Armagedddon, ID4, The Patriot and the Matrix......all movies which I enjoyed immensely.
Go figure...
As for me, one of the most overrated movies has to be Ben-Hur.
Can anyone say "Zzzzzzzzz..."?

Montcalm & desertjedi: errr, you can't really hate a movie if you haven't actually seen it. You can hate the hype, or you can just go along with what everyone else says, but you can't hate the movie itself unless you always just let other people make up your mind for you. That's like not voting and then complaining about the results: you don't get to bitch if you didn't put any effort into it.
I hate "Starship Troopers." People I know actually liked that movie. WTF! Even Leonard Maltin gave it like 3 starts or something (which is what he gave "Star Wars," if I remember my movie book correctly--WHAT?! They are SO not on the same level!). It was absolute trash! Huge, unconvincing compu-bugs, lots and LOTS of gore, and a shower scene with boobies. Big whoop. Was there a storyline in there somewhere? I missed it if it was there. Ugh.
